DEPORTATION OF 24 CHINESE NATIONALS: Immigration officers at Batam deport 24 citizens of the People’s Republic of China through Hang Nadim International Airport on May 1–2, 2026 following Operation Wira Waspada.

BATAM | INDATANEWS.COM The Class I Special Immigration Office for TPI Batam has reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing immigration law after deporting 24 citizens of the People's Republic of China on May 1–2, 2026. The deportations were carried out through the international entry checkpoint at Hang Nadim Airport, Batam, and officially announced on Wednesday, May 5, 2026.

The deportation is the direct outcome of intensified immigration surveillance conducted under Operation Wira Waspada, which was carried out in April 2026. The operation focused on several strategic areas, including Opus Bay and Marina City, particularly residential apartment complexes where foreign activities were detected.

Authorities stated that the operation was part of broader efforts to monitor and control the presence of foreign nationals in sensitive industrial and residential zones across Batam.

Violations Identified and Legal Action Taken

During the inspection process, immigration officers identified indications of possible violations of Indonesian immigration regulations. These findings were subsequently followed up in accordance with applicable laws and legal procedures.

As a result, in addition to deportation, the Batam Immigration Office imposed an entry ban (penangkalan) on all 24 Chinese nationals, prohibiting their re-entry into Indonesia for a specified period.

The Head of the Class I Special Immigration Office for TPI Batam emphasized that the measures reflect the government's firm stance in upholding sovereignty and maintaining order in immigration control.

"The Batam Immigration Office will continue to strengthen the supervision of foreign nationals and their activities, particularly in strategic areas such as industrial and residential zones that may involve foreign workers. Every violation will be strictly processed under the law," he stated.
