TRUCK INSPECTION WITHOUT BRAKE LIGHTS: The Satlantas Polresta Barelang night patrol inspects trailer trucks lacking brake lights on a main road in Batam to prevent traffic accidents.

BATAM | INDATANEWS.COM The Traffic Unit of the Barelang Police (Polresta Barelang) carried out a targeted night patrol operation against trailer trucks operating without functional brake lights. The initiative aims to strengthen traffic safety, maintain order, and ensure smooth traffic flow (Kamseltibcarlantas), while preventing potential road accidents within the jurisdiction.

The night operation focused on major arterial roads frequently used by heavy-duty vehicles, particularly routes known for high traffic density. Officers conducted mobile monitoring at several accident-prone points, especially in areas with limited street lighting.

The operation was directly led by the Head of Traffic Supervision (Kanit Turjagwali) of Satlantas Polresta Barelang, Ipda Tino Desmawanto, with support from Deputy Unit Head Aipda Mashuri and eight patrol personnel.

Several Violations Detected

During the patrol, officers identified multiple trailer trucks operating without functional brake lights. This condition poses a serious safety risk, as other road users may struggle to detect braking actions at night.

Authorities immediately issued on-the-spot warnings to the offending drivers. The measure is intended not only to enforce traffic regulations but also to prevent accidents caused by vehicle defects.

Driver Awareness and Safety Appeal

In addition to enforcement actions, officers also conducted public awareness efforts, urging drivers to ensure their vehicles are properly equipped with fully functioning lighting systems before operating on public roads.
