Torgamba Police Strengthen Oversight of MBG Program at SPPG

LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM- The Torgamba Police Sector has strengthened supervision of the Free Nutritious Meals Program, known as Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG), within its jurisdiction. Torgamba police officers conducted direct inspections and monitoring at SPPG 3 of the Kemala Bhayangkari Foundation under the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police on Monday, September 21, 2026.

The measure was aimed at ensuring that all meals prepared by the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Unit (Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi/SPPG) meet hygiene, food safety and food quality requirements and are safe and suitable for consumption by recipients.

Torgamba police officers began the inspection at around 9:30 a.m. WIB. The head of the Community Policing and Security Unit at Torgamba Police led the activity together with several officers, directly examining various procedures involved in the implementation of the MBG program.

The supervision did not only cover completed meals. Officers also examined the entire process, starting from the delivery and storage of food ingredients to their processing and preparation, packaging and subsequent distribution to recipients.

Police Inspect Every Stage of Food Processing

Torgamba Police Chief AKP Sunipan Gurusinga, S.H., emphasized the importance of conducting regular inspections at SPPG facilities within his jurisdiction. He said direct inspections serve as a preventive measure to identify and prevent potential errors in the preparation and distribution of MBG meals at an early stage.

"Our supervision is intended to ensure that all procedures comply with applicable regulations, particularly regarding hygiene, food quality and food safety," the police chief instructed, with the message conveyed through the head of the Community Policing and Security Unit.

During the inspection, officers examined several key areas at SPPG 3 of the Kemala Bhayangkari Foundation under the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police. These included the receipt of food ingredients, storage conditions and methods, food processing and preparation, the condition of the kitchen, sanitation, as well as the cleanliness and suitability of the equipment being used.

Officers also inspected the packaging process. The inspection was intended to ensure that meals remain safe and fit for consumption until they are handed over to recipients.

Comprehensive supervision is an important part of implementing the MBG program. The quality of meals depends not only on the menu being served, but also on the quality of the raw ingredients and the proper execution of every stage of the preparation process.

Food must be handled properly from the moment it arrives and stored under appropriate conditions until it is prepared. Equally important are the cleanliness of equipment, kitchen conditions, sanitation, packaging procedures and the condition of the meals before they are delivered to recipients.

2,840 People Receive MBG Meals

Inspection data show that SPPG 3 of the Kemala Bhayangkari Foundation under the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police provides MBG meals to thousands of recipients. In total, the program reaches 2,840 people.

Of that total, 2,441 recipients are students, while another 399 are toddlers.

The large number of recipients places a significant responsibility on the SPPG operator to consistently maintain quality throughout the production process. Kitchen cleanliness, food safety, nutritional value and proper food handling were therefore among the aspects that received particular attention during the inspection.

Torgamba Police considers on-site inspections necessary to ensure that the SPPG operator properly carries out all procedures before the meals reach recipients.

The head of the Community Policing and Security Unit, representing the Torgamba Police chief, also instructed SPPG management not to neglect hygiene and food quality throughout the implementation of the MBG program.

The operator was urged to ensure food safety while maintaining adequate nutritional value in the meals distributed to recipients. In addition, timely preparation and distribution must be ensured so that the meals reach recipients in appropriate condition.

Supervision as a Preventive Measure

Torgamba Police views the inspection as a preventive measure to support the smooth implementation of the MBG program within its jurisdiction. The presence of officers at the facility also allows police to directly observe the program's implementation and provide guidance to those responsible when certain aspects require particular attention.

The direct inspection also demonstrates that police supervision of the MBG program is not limited to administrative matters. Officers conduct on-site checks of the facilities, food processing procedures, kitchen cleanliness and the condition of meals before distribution.

With a total of 2,840 recipients, the SPPG operator bears significant responsibility for maintaining food safety and quality standards. Every stage of the preparation process must be carried out consistently to ensure that meals received by students and toddlers remain safe and suitable for consumption.

The inspection involved AIPTU B Sinaga, AIPTU H Sinaga, AIPTU PF Tanjung, AIPTU Lisdianto and AIPDA R Gultom.

The officers conducted the inspection directly at the facility as part of police supervision of the MBG program. The measure also strengthens efforts to prevent potential problems that could arise during the preparation or distribution of meals.

Torgamba Police hopes that regular inspections will help the SPPG operator consistently maintain hygiene, food safety, food quality, adequate nutritional value and timely preparation and distribution. The effort is intended to ensure that the MBG program is implemented in accordance with its objectives and provides all recipients in the area with meals that are safe and suitable for consumption.
