JAMBI | INDATANEWS.COM - The Jambi City Police, Polresta Jambi, has intensified efforts to maintain public safety and order through the Kegiatan Rutin Yang Ditingkatkan (KRYD), or Enhanced Routine Activities, on Sunday, September 19, 2026. The operation involved police personnel working alongside members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), and the Transportation Service.
Jambi Police Chief Kombes Pol Ananto Herlambang, SIK, MM, personally led the KRYD roll call before the patrol began. Several senior Polresta Jambi officials, heads of various police sectors, and personnel from the participating agencies attended the roll call.The KRYD operation focused on several locations considered vulnerable to potential disturbances to public safety and order. Officers concentrated their activities in front of the official residence of the Jambi Provincial Police Chief and at other vulnerable points within the jurisdiction of Polresta Jambi.
The Jambi Police Chief, through Polresta Jambi Public Relations Chief Ortu Edy Hariyanto, said the KRYD operation reflected the joint commitment of the police and other security personnel to maintaining a stable, safe, and orderly situation across Jambi City.
"This KRYD activity is focused in front of the official residence of the Jambi Provincial Police Chief and at other vulnerable points. This demonstrates the commitment of Polresta Jambi and the joint personnel to maintaining security and public order in Jambi City," Ortu Edy Hariyanto said.The joint personnel paid particular attention to motorcycle groups, illegal street racing, the use of non-standard exhaust systems, commonly referred to as "Brong" exhausts, and motorists who could not present complete vehicle documents.
The joint personnel also monitored other potential disturbances that could disrupt public safety and order or affect residents' activities and comfort. The operation involved both mobile and stationary patrols.During mobile patrols, officers moved from one location to another to monitor conditions directly. Meanwhile, stationary patrols involved police officers and other personnel being deployed at several locations considered vulnerable to security and public order disturbances.
The presence of joint personnel at these locations was intended to prevent public order disturbances while providing a sense of security to residents who remained outside or continued their activities at night.
Polresta Jambi considers preventive measures an important part of maintaining public safety. Therefore, officers did not focus solely on taking action against detected violations but also adopted a humane and proportionate approach in carrying out their duties."We will not give room to motorcycle groups and Brong exhausts that significantly disturb the community. We will act firmly, but continue to do so in a humane manner," he said.
During the KRYD operation, officers identified dozens of vehicles equipped with non-standard exhaust systems, commonly known as "Brong" exhausts. Officers also inspected vehicles whose drivers were unable to provide complete vehicle documents.The vehicles were subsequently taken to Polresta Jambi for further action in accordance with applicable regulations. The violations identified included offenses subject to traffic citations.
The measures also served to monitor nighttime motorized traffic. Police hope consistent enforcement will encourage motorists, particularly younger road users, to comply with traffic regulations and avoid activities that could disrupt other road users.
In addition to on-site enforcement, Polresta Jambi urged parents to pay closer attention to their children's activities. Police appealed to parents to ensure their children do not become involved in illegal street racing or motorcycle-group activities.
The involvement of young people in illegal street racing and motorized group activities can disrupt public order and pose risks to the safety of the young participants themselves as well as other road users.Polresta Jambi also ensured that its personnel continued monitoring activities until midnight. The patrols simultaneously served as a visible sign of the security forces' presence among the community.
"This is not only about issuing traffic tickets, but also about the comfort of Jambi residents. People should be able to sleep peacefully without being disturbed by noise, and the roads should remain safe," Kombes Ananto said.According to him, the KRYD operation was not solely aimed at taking action against traffic violations. Instead, police sought to ensure that residents could carry out their daily activities safely and comfortably without being disrupted by illegal street racing, noise from Brong exhaust systems, or other public order disturbances.
"This is proof of the Indonesian National Police's presence among the community to provide a sense of security and comfort," he added.Polresta Jambi called on all elements of society to work together to maintain security in their respective surroundings. Police said creating a safe and orderly situation in Jambi City requires the support and attention of all parties and cannot be left solely to security personnel.
"We appeal to the entire community: Let us work together to ensure that Jambi City remains safe and orderly. Polresta Jambi is here for the people!" Kombes Ananto said.Through regular and targeted KRYD operations, Polresta Jambi continues to strengthen preventive measures and enforcement against various violations that could disrupt public order. Police also urged residents to immediately report potential security disturbances so that they can be handled promptly within the relevant authorities' jurisdiction. (IDNC)
