ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM - The Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satresnarkoba) of the Aceh Tengah Police has uncovered an alleged illegal cannabis distribution case within its jurisdiction. During the investigation, officers arrested a 16-year-old teenager identified by the initials NR from Aceh Tengah Regency, who is suspected of being involved as a drug courier.

Police seized two packages containing cannabis as evidence. The total gross weight of the confiscated drugs was recorded at 114.83 grams. The arrest of NR was carried out on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at around 10:30 p.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB) in Uning Village, Pegasing District, Aceh Tengah.

The case was uncovered after police received information from local residents regarding a person allegedly in possession of cannabis and suspected of conducting drug transactions in the area. Following the report, the Aceh Tengah Police Satresnarkoba immediately launched an investigation to verify the information.

Cannabis Packages Found Hidden Under Clothing

During the investigation, officers conducted a search of NR. The operation resulted in the discovery of two cannabis packages wrapped with brown adhesive tape.

According to police, the suspect had hidden the evidence beneath the clothes he was wearing. In addition to the cannabis packages, officers also confiscated a mobile phone allegedly used to communicate in connection with the suspected narcotics distribution activities.

Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Muhamad Taufiq, S.I.K., M.H., through the Head of the Narcotics Investigation Unit, IPTU Bambang Hari Hermansyah Putra Pelis, S.H., M.H., stated that investigators are continuing to deepen the investigation into NR's role within the suspected drug network.

Based on the initial examination, police suspect that NR was used as a courier with the task of delivering the illegal substances to other individuals.

"The confiscated cannabis packages were allegedly intended to be handed over to a buyer who had previously placed an order. We have identified the supplier and the person is currently listed on the wanted list," said the Head of the Satresnarkoba Unit.

The Aceh Tengah Police Satresnarkoba is further developing the case to uncover a possible wider network involved in illegal narcotics distribution. Investigators continue collecting additional information and evidence to determine the involvement of other parties.

The confiscated cannabis evidence will be sent to the Indonesian National Police (Polri) forensic laboratory in Medan for further examination. The legal process against the suspect remains ongoing in accordance with applicable regulations.

Public Encouraged To Support Drug Prevention Efforts

The Aceh Tengah Police expressed appreciation for the community's active role in providing information regarding suspected drug activities. Public reports help authorities strengthen prevention measures and combat illegal narcotics distribution.

Authorities urged all elements of society to continue strengthening cooperation in efforts to prevent drug abuse and eradicate illicit drug trafficking. Collaboration between communities and law enforcement agencies is considered essential to creating a safer environment and protecting the younger generation from the dangers of narcotics.
