LHOKSEUMAWE | INDATANEWS.COM – The Secretary of the Aceh Provincial Government, M. Nasir, has instructed all hospitals across Aceh to accept and treat every patient without exception. Refusing patients, particularly in critical conditions, is no longer permitted.
"Patients must not be rejected and should receive priority treatment. Catastrophic diseases must be handled as the highest priority," Nasir said.He made the statement during an unannounced inspection at RSUD Cut Meutia Lhokseumawe on Thursday evening, May 7, 2026. He was accompanied by the Acting Head of the Aceh Health Office, Ferdiyus, and was received by Dr. Abdul Mukhti, Deputy Director of Medical Services at the hospital.

During the visit, Nasir directly reviewed hospital operations to ensure that public access to healthcare services runs smoothly without obstacles.
He emphasized that low-income communities must be able to access medical services without fear or administrative barriers."People should not be afraid to seek treatment. Low-income families, in particular, must be prioritized," he stated.

Nasir also reaffirmed that the Aceh Government, through the Jaminan Kesehatan Aceh (JKA) program, fully covers treatment costs for so-called catastrophic diseases, regardless of patients' economic status.
"From decile 6 to 10, all catastrophic disease treatment costs are covered by the JKA program. For patients requiring long-term treatment, income classification will no longer be considered," he explained.Catastrophic diseases include heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, thalassemia, liver cirrhosis, hemophilia, cancer, leukemia, as well as disabilities and mental health conditions.

Nasir further stressed the importance of protecting vulnerable groups. The Aceh Government already covers national health insurance contributions, ensuring all hospitals are obligated to provide optimal services.
He also warned medical personnel not to reject patients due to administrative issues, especially in emergencies or ongoing treatments."This aligns with the vision of the Governor and Deputy Governor of Aceh, Mualem–Dek Fadh, who prioritize healthcare for low-income communities. The government is committed to guaranteeing the right to health without bureaucratic barriers," Nasir said.
