LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM A calm yet firm atmosphere marked the third floor of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regent's Office on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, during the Exit Meeting with the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK RI) North Sumatra Representative Office. Instead of ceremonial closure, the meeting focused on accountability and the follow-up of audit findings.

Exit Meeting Emphasizes Accountability, Not Ceremony

Labuhanbatu Selatan Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang delivered a firm directive to the regional administration, stressing that all BPK findings must not only be recorded but also fully implemented in a timely and measurable manner.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Regent Syahdian Purba Siboro, Regional Secretary M. Reza Pahlevi Nasution, assistants, expert staff, heads of regional work units, sub-district leaders, and the BPK audit team. The gathering reflected a shared commitment to strengthening accountability across all levels of government.

Fery underlined that the Exit Meeting should not be viewed as the end of the audit process, but rather as the beginning of continuous improvements in regional financial management.

"This is more of a starting point for improvement," he said.

He also emphasized that the quality of financial governance is not only reflected in figures, but also in public trust toward the government.

Revenue Optimization and Governance at the Core

Following the meeting, the Regent held a coordination session with all heads of regional work units to ensure immediate follow-up on BPK findings.

He placed special emphasis on optimizing local revenue sources, particularly taxes such as water and land tax. The Transportation Agency was also urged to improve management of parking fee revenue.

The Labuhanbatu Selatan government continues to treat audit follow-ups as part of a broader good governance strategy, grounded in transparency, accountability, and legal compliance.
