Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang emphasized that May Day should serve as a meaningful space for communication and consensus-building rather than a symbolic celebration. He delivered the statement during an official gathering held at the "Santun Berkata Bijak Berkarya" Hall in Kotapinang District on Friday, May 1, 2026."May Day is a moment of unity. The event was attended by Deputy Regent Syahdian Purba Siboro, members of the Regional Leadership Forum (Forkopimda), Police Chief Aditya SP Sembiring, Military Commander Hendra Gunawan, and Regional Secretary M. Reza Pahlevi Nasution.

During the commemoration, the Labuhanbatu Selatan government officially set the 2026 Sectoral Minimum Wage (UMSK) at IDR 3,745,000, marking an increase of IDR 285,000 from the previous year.The adjustment reflects the government's attempt to balance worker welfare protection with economic sustainability amid ongoing market dynamics and labor competition.
