DISASTER REPORTING IN FOCUS: Aceh Deputy Governor Fadhlullah calls on journalists to strengthen collaboration in disaster reporting during the UKW and a national seminar in Banda Aceh.

BANDA ACEH | INDATANEWS.COM ~ Aceh Deputy Governor, Fadhlullah, has called on journalists to strengthen collaboration in reporting disaster events across the province, emphasizing the importance of accurate and timely information for the public.

He delivered the message while attending the Journalist Competency Test (UKW) and a national seminar held at Hotel Ayani in Banda Aceh on Thursday (April 16, 2026).

The event was jointly organized by the Aceh Provincial Communication, Informatics, and Encryption Office (Diskominsa), the Aceh chapter of the Indonesian Cyber Media Association (AMSI), and the Journalist Competency Certification Institute of Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta (LUKW UMJ).

Strategic Role of Media in Disaster Management

The seminar carried the theme "Strengthening the Business Ecosystem of Media Companies in Aceh Province After Hydrometeorological Disasters," with Fadhlullah serving as a speaker in one of the UKW sessions.

During the session, participants raised various questions regarding disaster management in Aceh, which also formed part of the evaluation process conducted by the assessment team.

Fadhlullah stressed that the media play a strategic role in delivering fast, accurate, and balanced information to the public, particularly in relation to natural disasters that frequently affect several regions in Aceh. He highlighted that strong synergy between the government and media is essential for effective disaster preparedness and response.

On the occasion, Fadhlullah encouraged media professionals to remain proactive in covering disaster-related issues and to enhance collaboration with the government in monitoring regional developments.

He expressed confidence that a constructive relationship between the media and the government would serve as a crucial foundation for Aceh's future development.

"We want to continue working together. Let us move forward side by side without surpassing one another. Criticism may be sharp, but it should not be hurtful. This means building cooperation between the media and the government to create a better Aceh for the future and for our beloved Indonesia," he said.
