JAKARTA | INDATANEWS.COM - Aceh Deputy Governor, Fadhlullah, together with Chairman of the Aceh Reintegration Agency (BRA) Jamaluddin and Special Adviser to the Governor of Aceh T. Irsyadi, held discussions with the Indonesian Central Government through the State Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta on Friday, July 24, 2026.
The meeting was held after the State Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia invited the Aceh Government to discuss several strategic issues related to the implementation of the Helsinki Peace Memorandum of Understanding (MoU Helsinki). Deputy State Secretary Juri Ardiantoro personally welcomed the Aceh Government delegation during a meeting conducted in an open and constructive atmosphere.The forum was part of efforts to strengthen coordination between the Central Government and the Aceh Government while overseeing various commitments outlined in the peace agreement, which for more than two decades has served as the foundation for the peace process in Aceh.
Chairman of the Aceh Reintegration Agency (BRA) Jamaluddin stated that one of the main agendas discussed during the meeting was the implementation of Article 3.2.5 of the Helsinki Memorandum.
According to Jamaluddin, the provision regulates the fulfillment of rights for former members of the Free Aceh Movement (GAM), political prisoners (Tapol), political detainees (Napol), conflict victims, as well as victims of alleged past human rights (HAM) violations."This discussion is part of joint efforts to strengthen commitment toward maintaining sustainable peace in Aceh, which has existed since the signing of the Helsinki Memorandum more than two decades ago," Jamaluddin said.
He explained that the Aceh Government continues to pursue solutions for various matters that remain part of the obligations under the peace agreement. Coordination with the Central Government is an important step to ensure that the implementation of the Helsinki Memorandum is carried out comprehensively and in accordance with applicable regulations.The meeting between the Aceh Government and the State Secretariat also served as a communication platform to discuss various challenges and strategic measures to strengthen the peace achievements that have been established so far.
According to him, cooperation between both sides plays an important role in maintaining peace stability in Aceh while supporting efforts to improve the welfare of the people.
"This synergy is expected to further strengthen the existing peace while encouraging the realization of greater prosperity for the people of Aceh," Fadhlullah said.He emphasized that intensive communication between the Central Government and the Aceh Government serves as an important foundation for resolving various outstanding issues related to the Helsinki Memorandum.
Furthermore, the cooperation reflects a shared commitment to preserving the values of peace and creating tangible benefits for the people of Aceh.
The meeting at the State Secretariat Office reaffirmed the commitment of both the Central Government and the Aceh Government to continue communication, improve coordination, and oversee the implementation of the Helsinki Memorandum.
The Aceh Government hopes that various pending points of the peace agreement can continue to be discussed jointly with the Central Government through existing mechanisms.Since the signing of the Helsinki Memorandum on August 15, 2005, the Aceh peace process has continued to be regarded as one example of conflict resolution through dialogue and political agreements. The Central Government and the Aceh Government reaffirm their commitment to safeguarding these achievements so they can continue generating positive impacts for the people.
The meeting between the Aceh Deputy Governor and the Deputy State Secretary represents another coordination step to ensure that the implementation of commitments under the Helsinki Memorandum continues consistently.
