In his opening remarks, Fadhlullah praised MPU Aceh for hosting the strategic forum, describing it as an essential platform to reinforce collaboration between ulama (Islamic scholars) and umara (government leaders).

He emphasized that MPU plays a crucial role in Aceh's governance system—not only as an advisory body but also as a guardian of Islamic values and moral guidance for society.

"In an era of rapid change, society needs not only regulations but also role models and moral leadership. This is where the role of ulama becomes especially important as a unifying and calming force," he said.

Making Special Autonomy More Tangible in Daily Life

Fadhlullah highlighted the meeting's theme, "The Strategic Role of MPU in Implementing Aceh's Special Autonomy," calling it highly relevant to current governance challenges.

He stressed that Aceh's special autonomy should not remain merely administrative, but must be reflected in the everyday lives of the people.

He also urged stronger coordination between provincial and district-level MPU institutions to ensure that policy and religious recommendations are consistently implemented and deliver real benefits to the public.

Ulama Role in Combating Misinformation and Supporting Public Programs

The Vice Governor further underlined the importance of ulama in addressing the growing spread of misinformation. He called on religious leaders to help the public understand accurate information and prevent misleading narratives.

Regarding the Aceh Health Insurance Program (Jaminan Kesehatan Aceh/JKA), he clarified that the program continues to run, with adjustments made to improve efficiency and targeting based on socioeconomic data.

"These steps are necessary to ensure the sustainability of the program amid limited regional fiscal capacity, while still protecting the most vulnerable groups," he explained.

He concluded by emphasizing that cooperation between ulama and the government is essential for strengthening public trust and ensuring effective policy implementation within Aceh's Sharia-based governance framework.

Fadhlullah officially opened the forum with hopes that the meeting would produce concrete solutions to future religious and social challenges.

"With the name of God, I hereby declare the MPU Aceh Coordination Meeting 2026 officially open," he stated. (IDNC)
