BATAM | INDATANEWS.COM – The Barelang Police, in collaboration with the Riau Islands Regional Police (Polda Kepri), the Batam City Government through the Environmental Agency (DLH), and the Batam branch of the Indonesian Workers Union (SPSI), carried out a large-scale joint cleanup campaign titled "Batam Sauber."

Read Also:The activity began at 06:00 WIB with a field briefing (appell) led by respective operation officers at each location. By 06:15 WIB, all participants had started the cleanup operations across designated areas.
The eight targeted districts included Sagulung, Bengkong, Batu Aji, Sei Beduk, Nongsa, Batam Kota, Batu Ampar, and Lubuk Baja. The focus was on clearing waste accumulation along main roads as well as densely populated residential and commercial areas.

A total of 90 personnel from Polda Kepri, 86 members of Barelang Police, 56 officers from the Batam Environmental Agency (DLH), 45 SPSI union members, and 50 local government staff took part in the operation. All teams worked in coordinated formation with a shared objective of improving urban cleanliness.
The cleanup involved street sweeping, waste collection, and transportation using DLH Batam vehicles. By 07:50 WIB, the collected waste was escorted by police to Engku Putri Square before being transported to the final disposal site.

The closing briefing was held at 08:00 WIB. The entire operation ran smoothly, safely, and without incident. Beyond physical cleanup efforts, the activity also served to raise public awareness on proper waste management and environmental protection.Barelang Police Chief, Kombes Pol Anggoro Wicaksono, emphasized the importance of the initiative.
