ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM - The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Aceh Tengah Police has uncovered an alleged theft case in Pendere Saril Village, Bebesen District, Aceh Tengah Regency. Officers arrested a 28-year-old man identified by the initials JH and secured several pieces of evidence allegedly linked to the criminal act.
The case was uncovered after police received a report regarding a theft incident that occurred on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at around 1:30 p.m. WIB (Western Indonesian Time) in Pendere Saril Village. The operational investigation team of the Aceh Tengah Police Criminal Investigation Unit immediately launched an inquiry to identify the suspected perpetrator.Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Muhamad Taufiq, S.I.K., M.H., through the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasat Reskrim) AKP Abdul Mufakhir, S.H., M.H., stated that the case resolution was a follow-up action based on Police Report Number LP/B/102/VII/2026/SPKT/Polres Aceh Tengah/Polda Aceh dated July 30, 2026.
AKP Abdul Mufakhir explained that the investigation conducted by the operational team successfully identified the whereabouts of the suspected perpetrator within a short period of time. Officers subsequently arrested JH on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at around 9:00 p.m. WIB.
"Based on the investigation carried out, the perpetrator was successfully arrested. He is currently undergoing further examination as part of the investigation process at the Aceh Tengah Police," AKP Abdul Mufakhir said.Following the arrest, investigators immediately conducted an initial interrogation and collected several pieces of evidence allegedly used in the incident or obtained from the theft.
During the investigation, the Aceh Tengah Police Criminal Investigation Unit confiscated a laptop suspected to have been stolen. In addition, officers secured a machete, which is also being used as evidence in the ongoing investigation.
Investigators are continuing to deepen the inquiry to fully uncover the chronology of the incident and determine the possible involvement of the suspect in the theft case within the jurisdiction of the Aceh Tengah Police.JH is suspected of violating Article 477 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP) regarding theft. The article serves as the legal basis for further investigative measures before the case proceeds to the next stage of the legal process.
The Head of the Aceh Tengah Police Criminal Investigation Unit emphasized that his team is currently completing the investigation file before submitting the case to the Public Prosecutor (Jaksa Penuntut Umum/JPU). The process includes additional questioning of witnesses and suspects, as well as further examination of the collected evidence.
"The Aceh Tengah Police remains committed to professionally resolving every criminal case and ensuring security for the community," he concluded.The Aceh Tengah Police reaffirmed that law enforcement efforts against all forms of crime will continue to be carried out consistently.
