BATAM | INDATANEWS.COM – The Barelang Police (Polresta Barelang), through the Galang Police Sector (Polsek Galang), carried out a large-scale corn harvest during Quarter II harvesting activities, supporting Indonesia's Food Sovereignty Program 2026. The harvest took place on Saturday (May 30, 2026) at 09:30 a.m. local time in Seberang Sei Gong, RT 01/RW 01, Sijantung Village, Galang District, Batam.
The initiative reflects strong collaboration between law enforcement, local government, agricultural groups, businesses, and the community in strengthening national food security.
Police Strengthen Cross-Sector Cooperation for Food Security
The corn harvest highlights the Police's expanding role beyond maintaining public order and security, extending into the support of strategic national development programs. Polresta Barelang, together with relevant stakeholders, continues to promote productive and sustainable use of agricultural land to improve farmers' welfare in Galang.Galang Police Chief Iptu Hendrizal emphasized the importance of cross-sector synergy in reinforcing regional food security efforts and ensuring long-term agricultural sustainability.
Community Participation Drives Agricultural ProductivityThe event was attended by representatives from the police and military, local government officials, community leaders, and farmer groups. Speakers underlined the importance of collective efforts in supporting Indonesia's national food resilience agenda.
Residents were also encouraged to maximize the use of idle productive land to increase agricultural output and improve the economic conditions of farmers across Galang District.
10 Tons of Corn Harvested from 20,000 Square Meters
The highlight of the event was the joint harvesting and threshing of corn on approximately 20,000 square meters of farmland. Participants included the Head of Human Resources of Polresta Barelang, the Galang Police Chief, the Galang Sub-district Head (Camat), the Rahayu Agro Makmur farmer group, representatives of PT MEG, and local community leaders.The harvest is expected to produce around 10 tons of corn, which will contribute to local food security efforts. The event concluded with a group photo session and a communal lunch, symbolizing solidarity and cooperation among institutions and residents. The entire activity ran smoothly, safely, and without disruption until 11:00 a.m.
