MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM - North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution has called on all Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) to make the 2026 Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia (Ombudsman RI) Entry Meeting a strategic instrument for evaluating and improving the quality of public services. He said the event provides an important opportunity for regional administrations to assess their performance, strengthen governance systems, and deliver better services to the public.
Bobby made the statement while opening the 2026 Ombudsman RI Entry Meeting at Raja Inal Siregar Hall, Jalan Diponegoro No. 30, Medan, on Wednesday (July 29, 2026). The event was attended by representatives of regional governments, ministries, state institutions, and various vertical agencies. It also marked the official launch of the public service assessment and citizen satisfaction survey for a wide range of government service providers.
Bobby Nasution stressed that the Ombudsman's assessment should not be viewed merely as an administrative requirement. Instead, it should serve as an effective tool to drive continuous improvements in public administration and service delivery.
"We must regard this assessment as an instrument for evaluating public services—for improvement, self-reflection, workflow enhancement, better complaint management, staff development, and the consistent implementation of service standards," Bobby said.
He recalled that the North Sumatra Provincial Government had previously received the Ombudsman RI's High Quality Rating (Green Zone) for its public service performance. However, he emphasized that the recognition should never become a reason for complacency.
According to the governor, every achievement should motivate government institutions to further improve service quality across all sectors.
"I greatly appreciate this recognition. Nevertheless, we must not become complacent. Instead, it should inspire us to work even harder so that the quality of our public services continues to improve and benefits every member of the community," Bobby Nasution said.

Ombudsman RI member Syafrida R. Rasahan said public services this year are facing numerous challenges, with limited financial resources being one of the most significant.
She noted that budget efficiency measures implemented across regional governments, ministries, and state institutions could affect the quality of public services.
According to Syafrida, stronger collaboration among government institutions and all stakeholders, along with innovative approaches, is essential to maintaining high-quality services despite fiscal constraints.
"The greatest challenge is limited financial capacity. We must find new ways to continue providing excellent services to the public. Together, we need to develop solutions and maximize the resources currently available," Syafrida said.
She expressed hope that all institutions would develop more effective and innovative strategies to ensure that public needs continue to be met without compromising service quality.

Head of the Ombudsman RI Representative Office for North Sumatra, Herdensi Adnin, explained that the public service assessment and citizen satisfaction survey will be conducted from August through November 2026. Once all evaluation stages are completed, the Ombudsman RI will submit the results to regional governments, ministries, and other state institutions in December 2026.
Herdensi emphasized that improving public services is an ongoing process requiring a long-term commitment from every institution.
"There is no such thing as a perfect public service. What matters is our collective commitment to delivering the best possible service. Today must be better than yesterday, and our quality and compliance standards must be higher than last year," Herdensi said.
The 2026 Ombudsman RI Entry Meeting was also attended by regents and mayors from across North Sumatra, Head of the North Sumatra Regional Office of the National Land Agency (BPN) Nugraha, and Acting Provincial Secretary of North Sumatra Sulaiman Harahap.
Also present were representatives of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), officials from various ministries and state institutions, as well as heads of Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) under the North Sumatra Provincial Government. Their broad participation reflected a shared commitment to strengthening governance and continuously improving the quality of public services across North Sumatra.(IDNC)
