JAKARTA | INDATANEWS.COM - PT Pembangunan Prasarana Sumatera Utara (PPSU) has established a strategic partnership with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China to strengthen the healthcare sector and advance green energy development in North Sumatra. The cooperation was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which includes the provision of 200 dialysis machines and the construction of a solar power plant (PLTS) with a capacity of up to 300 megawatts.
The signing of the MoU is part of efforts to expand investment cooperation between North Sumatra and China. The North Sumatra Provincial Government views the partnership as an important step toward improving the quality of public services and accelerating the development of renewable energy.North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution stated that the cooperation between PT PPSU and the Chinese Embassy represents a joint effort to realize sustainable development in North Sumatra. According to him, the partnership is a concrete step toward delivering greater benefits to the community.
"I hope this cooperation will become the beginning of further investments in North Sumatra, create new employment opportunities, and open additional prospects that will support economic growth and improve public welfare," Bobby said after attending the MoU signing ceremony between PT PPSU and the Chinese Embassy in Jakarta on Thursday, July 23, 2026.According to Bobby, new investments in North Sumatra will not only support infrastructure development but also provide broader economic opportunities for local communities. The regional government hopes that this international partnership will further strengthen North Sumatra's competitiveness as one of Indonesia's strategically important regions.
Djauhari explained that several cooperation projects between Indonesia and China have already been implemented in North Sumatra. However, most previous projects were still carried out under government-to-government (G to G) cooperation or between state-owned enterprises (BUMN).
"Several projects are already underway in North Sumatra, but most are still within the framework of Government to Government (G to G) or BUMN-to-BUMN cooperation. This time, we are moving through a governance structure toward Private-to-Private cooperation. Hopefully, this will become a good beginning to open new investment opportunities," Djauhari said.He expressed hope that greater private sector involvement would pave the way for more strategic investments in North Sumatra. In his view, stronger participation from the business sector would expand development opportunities while further strengthening relations between Indonesia and China.
Djauhari also announced that a special forum on North Sumatra would soon be held in China. The forum aims to showcase the region's various investment potentials and cooperation opportunities."I hope this will become the beginning of even greater cooperation between North Sumatra Province and China," he said.
President Director of PT PPSU Ferry Indra stated that his company continues to accelerate its transformation through strategic investments. The transformation focuses on professionalism, transparency, and creating added value for regional development.
According to Ferry, the healthcare sector and sustainable energy are two areas with significant development potential through international cooperation. The provision of dialysis machines and the construction of solar power plants are part of the company's commitment to creating direct benefits for the community."Initiatives in healthcare and sustainable energy provide major opportunities to continue building strong cooperation. Meanwhile, PT CNEC Engineering Indonesia representative Xu Qifei stated that the MoU signing represents a step toward strengthening various potentials and integrating them into strategic cooperation between Indonesia and China.Xu emphasized that through the Indonesia-China Partnership Forum, various investment and cooperation opportunities could continue to be developed. He expressed hope that the partnership would produce programs capable of creating tangible impacts for society.
