Deli Serdang PKK Promotes Seven Good Habits for Early Childhood

DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - Asniar Lom Lom Suwondo, First Advisor of the Deli Serdang Regency PKK Mobilization Team, encouraged children at PAUD Santa Katarina in Tiga Juhar Village, Sinembah Tanjung Hulu (STM Hulu) District, to develop a positive lifestyle from an early age and practice the seven habits of a great Indonesian child in their daily lives.

The appeal was delivered during Asniar's participation in the PKK Goes to School program at PAUD Santa Katarina on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. The event was attended by children, parents, and educators. It aimed to promote good habits while strengthening character development from early childhood.

During the event, Asniar introduced seven habits that can serve as guidance for children in their daily lives. They include waking up early, praying and practicing their religion, exercising, eating a healthy and balanced diet, enjoying learning, living in the community, and going to bed on time.

The children of PAUD Santa Katarina participated enthusiastically. Together, they performed movements and sang the song "7 Kebiasaan Anak Indonesia Hebat." The activity gave the children an opportunity to learn positive habits in a fun way and understand how to incorporate them into their daily routines.

Character Building Starts in Early Childhood

Asniar emphasized that character building does not take place exclusively at school. Parents also have an important role by continuing to develop good habits at home. This approach can create a consistent educational process between the family and school.

She reminded parents to pay attention to their children's daily routines, from waking and sleeping times to religious activities, exercise, learning, and nutrition. In her view, simple habits practiced consistently can help shape positive behavior in children.

"Dear mothers and fathers, these seven habits are one of the guidelines for getting our children accustomed to good habits at home. Starting with waking up early, praying, exercising, eating healthy and nutritious food, learning and socializing, and getting children accustomed to going to bed on time," she said.

In addition to establishing regular daily routines, Asniar urged parents to pay attention to their children's nutritional needs. Families should get their children accustomed to eating nutritious foods such as vegetables, fish, and eggs.

Adequate and balanced nutrition is an important part of supporting children's growth and development. Therefore, families must ensure that children receive sufficient healthy and nutritious food to support their health and learning process.

On the occasion, Asniar also expressed hope that children at PAUD Santa Katarina would benefit from the Free Nutritious Meals (Makan Bergizi Gratis/MBG) program.

"Hopefully, in the future, all of our children will receive MBG so they can get healthy and nutritious meals," she said.

School Close to Home Improves Access to Education

Asniar also praised the existence of the Santa Katarina integrated school in STM Hulu District. In her view, the educational institution provides local residents with easier access to education for their children.

The presence of the school in the area, Asniar said, allows children to attend an educational institution without having to travel long distances to urban areas. At the same time, residents of STM Hulu District have easier access to educational services.

She expressed hope that the school would continue to improve the quality of its education and create a learning environment that supports children's development in both academic achievement and character building.

In addition to encouraging the school to further improve the quality of education, Asniar reminded parents to establish good communication with teachers. She asked parents not to react hastily when teachers reprimand their children.

According to her, reprimands from teachers are part of the educational process as long as they are intended to guide children toward better behavior. Therefore, parents need to understand the role of teachers and work together with them in supporting children's development.

"As parents, we need to be more patient and understanding. If our child is scolded or reprimanded by a teacher, we should not immediately become angry. This is part of the teaching and learning process," she cautioned.

The head of PAUD Santa Katarina, Saulina Samosir, expressed her gratitude for the visit by the Deli Serdang Regency PKK Mobilization Team. She regarded the PKK team's presence as a sign of concern as well as encouragement for the school in carrying out its educational responsibilities.

"On behalf of the entire school community, we warmly welcome you and thank you for taking the time to visit our school," she said.

Saulina hoped that the visit would not remain merely a ceremonial event. Instead, she hoped the school would continue to receive motivation, guidance, and support to improve the quality of education and further develop PAUD Santa Katarina.

Attention to Children with Growth Delays

The PKK Goes to School program also provided Asniar with an opportunity to focus on children's health and development. During the event, she handed nutritious food to a child with stunting from STM Hulu District who attended the event at PAUD Santa Katarina.

In addition to nutritious food, Asniar and her team also distributed basic necessities and gift packages to the children. The assistance is part of efforts to address children's needs and help families ensure the necessary conditions for their growth and development.

The Deli Serdang Regency Government, Asniar explained, continues to pay attention to the education sector and human resource development from early childhood. In her view, building a healthy, intelligent, and strong-character generation can only be achieved through the joint commitment of the government, schools, families, and society.

"The regency government strongly supports education. However, this cannot be implemented without the support of society. Therefore, let us work together to raise our children to become healthy, intelligent, and strong-character individuals," she said in closing.

The event was also attended by Deli Serdang PKK Mobilization Team Chairperson II Retno Z.A. Hutagalung; Chairperson of the Dharma Wanita Association of the Education Office, Yunita A. Fitriani Syukri; members of the Deli Serdang PKK Mobilization Team; representatives of the Deli Serdang Education Office; STM Hulu District Head Sadar Purba, together with STM Hulu PKK Mobilization Team Chairperson Madia Sadar Purba; the Chairperson of the Kutalimbaru District PKK Mobilization Team; teachers; medical personnel from the STM Hulu Community Health Center; as well as parents and children of PAUD Santa Katarina.

The participation of various stakeholders demonstrates that early childhood education requires cooperation from many parties. Schools are responsible for the educational process, while families continue to develop good habits at home. The government supports this process through various programs in education, health, and community empowerment.

Through the PKK Goes to School program, the Deli Serdang Regency PKK Mobilization Team is also encouraging parents to make positive habits a regular part of their children's daily lives. By consistently developing these habits from an early age, children are expected to adopt a healthy lifestyle, develop a love of learning, build social skills, and develop good character. (IDNC)
