JAMBI | INDATANEWS.COM The Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satresnarkoba) of the Jambi City Police (Polresta Jambi) has uncovered a drug trafficking and abuse case involving methamphetamine, locally known as "sabu," in the Jalan Lingkar Selatan area, RT 27, Paal Merah Subdistrict, Jambi City, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

A 37-year-old man identified by the initials MS, a local resident of the area, was arrested during the operation. Police also confiscated two packages of methamphetamine with a total gross weight of 0.41 grams.

According to Polresta Jambi Chief, Kombes Pol Boy Sutan Binanga Siregar, through Public Relations Officer Iptu Edy Hariyanto, the arrest was made following a report from the public regarding suspected drug activity in the area.

"The Satresnarkoba team promptly responded to information from residents about alleged narcotics activity in Jalan Lingkar Selatan RT 27, Paal Merah. The suspect MS was subsequently arrested. Suspect Admits Ownership and Drug Purchase Scheme

During initial questioning, MS admitted ownership of the seized narcotics. Police said the drugs were allegedly obtained from an individual identified as A, who is currently serving time in a detention facility in Jambi. The transaction was reportedly conducted using a so-called "tempel system" method.

"The suspect confessed that the evidence belonged to him. It was the remainder of methamphetamine he had previously purchased in a half-gram quantity for IDR 600,000 from a person with the initials A inside the Jambi detention center," Iptu Edy added.

In addition to the drugs, officers also seized a Sampoerna cigarette box, a blue Realme Android smartphone, and two packs of Mentos candy as supporting evidence.

Legal Proceedings Underway

MS has been taken to the Satresnarkoba office of Polresta Jambi for further investigation and remains in custody. The seized narcotics will also undergo laboratory testing.

"The suspect will be charged under Article 114 paragraph (1) of Indonesia's Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics, or Article 609 paragraph (1) letter (a) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Law No. 1 of 2026 on Criminal Code adjustments," Iptu Edy stated. (IDNC)
