BATAM | INDATANEWS.COM – The Barelang Police (Polresta Barelang), through its Narcotics Unit, held a press conference while simultaneously destroying confiscated drug evidence on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the police headquarters lobby. The event served as a transparent report on law enforcement achievements from February to April 2026.
Police Chief Commissioner Anggoro Wicaksono led the press conference, accompanied by Deputy Chief AKBP Fadli Agus, Head of Narcotics Investigation Kompol Dr. Arsyad Riyandi, and Head of Public Relations AKP Budi Santosa. Representatives from multiple institutions also attended, including the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Batam, Customs Office, Batam Prosecutor's Office, Food and Drug Monitoring Agency, Batam District Court, and members of the legal profession.13 Cases Uncovered in Two Months

During the event, authorities publicly destroyed evidence, including 1,075.65 grams of methamphetamine in six packages, 47 ecstasy pills of various brands, and 1,931 units of vape liquid containing Etomidate in different packaging. The public destruction was carried out to prevent misuse and to strengthen accountability to the community.

According to Anggoro, the confiscation of these drugs potentially saved approximately 39,835 people from drug abuse. The estimate is based on the potential distribution and consumption of the seized substances within the community.
The suspects are charged under multiple legal provisions, including Article 609 paragraphs (1) and (2) letters a and b of the Indonesian Criminal Code, as well as Article 114 paragraph (1) of the 2009 Narcotics Law. They face prison sentences ranging from 10 to 20 years and fines between Rp200 million and Rp2 billion.Collaboration and Public Participation Key
