LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Drug Enforcement Unit of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police has uncovered two suspected drug-related offenses involving methamphetamine within a single day. Officers arrested two men at two separate locations and seized a total of 4.93 grams of methamphetamine, based on gross weight.
The two investigations were conducted on Thursday, August 20, 2026, in the Sei Kanan and Torgamba districts of Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency. Acting on information from members of the public, police launched investigations and eventually identified activities allegedly linked to drug trafficking.The suspects were identified as IHH, also known as Ilham or Babol, 31, from Sei Kanan District, and DP, also known as Dimas, 25, from Sidorejo Hamlet, Pangarungan Village, Torgamba District. Police are currently investigating both men to determine the source of the illegal drugs and uncover any possible links to a larger trafficking network.
The Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Drug Enforcement Unit carried out its first operation at around 12:30 p.m. local time in Suka Rame Hamlet, Sabungan Village, Sei Kanan District.
Previously, the head of the unit's first team had received information about a man who was allegedly involved in the regular distribution of methamphetamine in the area. Officers subsequently conducted field investigations to verify the information.After obtaining information about the whereabouts of a man who was allegedly in possession of, storing and controlling methamphetamine, police moved in and arrested IHH, also known as Ilham or Babol.
During a search, officers found two transparent plastic bags containing suspected methamphetamine with a gross weight of 2.30 grams. The suspected drugs had been wrapped in white tissue paper.Police also seized several other items allegedly connected to the case, including an empty plastic package, a dark-blue Vivo mobile phone, IDR 135,000 in cash, a black cigarette pack, a white tissue, and a blue Yamaha Nmax motorcycle without a BK registration plate.
The suspect, along with all the seized evidence, was then taken to the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police headquarters for further questioning.
Only a short time later, at around 2:00 p.m. local time, the Drug Enforcement Unit carried out another operation. This time, officers went to Sidorejo Hamlet, Pangarungan Village, Torgamba District.
The second investigation began with information submitted by a member of the public through Dumas Presisi, reporting an alleged methamphetamine transaction in the area. Drug enforcement officers immediately went to the reported location to verify the information.At the scene, officers encountered a man whose behavior they considered suspicious. Police subsequently detained him. He identified himself as DP, also known as Dimas, 25, from Sidorejo Hamlet, Pangarungan Village, Torgamba District.
Officers then searched the suspect and his house. During the search, they found a plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine with a gross weight of 2.63 grams.The substance was found inside a white cigarette pack located in the kitchen of the house. The suspect and the seized evidence were subsequently taken to the police station for further investigation.
From the two operations, the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Drug Enforcement Unit secured two suspects and methamphetamine with a combined gross weight of 4.93 grams.
Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Chief AKBP Rosef Efendi, S.I.K., M.H., CPHR., through the head of the Drug Enforcement Unit, AKP Wilson Manahan Panjaitan, S.H., M.H., said police would continue taking firm action against illegal drug trafficking within the jurisdiction of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police.
"We will continue to follow up on every piece of information from the public. We are committed to combating drug trafficking and developing every case further to uncover larger networks," he stressed.Investigators are continuing to work on both cases. In addition to questioning the suspects and examining the evidence, investigators are expanding their inquiries into possible networks, conducting case discussions and completing the investigation files before submitting them to the public prosecutor in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The two cases uncovered in a single day demonstrate the importance of public participation in supporting police efforts to combat drug trafficking.
