BATAM | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The Polresta Barelang Police conducted a community dialogue under the Jumat Curhat Kamtibmas (Friday Public Complaint Forum) initiative in Batam Kota, aiming to strengthen communication between police and residents while addressing public safety and order concerns.

The program is part of Polri's effort to build closer engagement with the community and identify security issues at the grassroots level.

The forum was held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at the Pujasera Orchid residential area in Taman Baloi, Batam Kota, starting at 08:00 WIB. The event was attended by Polresta Barelang Police Chief Kombes Pol. Anggoro Wicaksono, Batam Kota Police Chief AKP Benny Syahrizal, and military representative Sertu Nasution.

Also present were local officials and community leaders, including Batam Kota Subdistrict Deputy Head Tommy Army, MUI Batam Kota Chairman Ustadz Zamzuri, Baloi Permai Health Center Head Rois, RT/RW representatives, and residents of the Orchid Park area.

AKP Benny Syahrizal emphasized that the Jumat Curhat forum serves as an essential bridge between the police and the public to improve services and detect security issues early.

Residents Voice Security Concerns

During the open discussion, residents raised several pressing issues, including the need for increased night patrols, concerns over drug trafficking and human trafficking (TPPO), traffic safety problems, and rising youth-related offenses.

Participants also called for stronger legal education, improved transparency in policing, and reinforcement of neighborhood security systems such as Siskamling.

In response, Kombes Pol. Anggoro Wicaksono stated that Jumat Curhat is a key strategy for directly absorbing public concerns. He reaffirmed the police commitment to maintaining a safe and stable environment in Batam.

The police pledged to increase patrols in vulnerable areas, intensify anti-drug and anti-trafficking operations, and strengthen youth outreach programs. Community-based security systems (Siskamling) will also be further empowered.

He further reminded residents to utilize the free 24-hour emergency hotline 110 for urgent assistance.

Authorities also clarified that minor offenses involving losses under IDR 2.5 million are handled under administrative procedures, while traffic violations by minors will continue to be enforced under applicable regulations.

The event concluded with a group photo session and informal discussions, running smoothly and securely until around 10:00 WIB.
