“JAKSA SAHABAT PENDIDIK” PROGRAM: Labuhanbatu Selatan Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang and Head of the Labuhanbatu Selatan District Prosecutor’s Office Alexander Zaldi sign the agreement for the “Jaksa Sahabat Pendidik” program on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at the Command Center Hall of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government Office.

LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government is strengthening protection and good governance in the education sector through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the "Jaksa Sahabat Pendidik" (Prosecutors as Friends of Educators) program with the Labuhanbatu Selatan District Prosecutor's Office.

The cooperation places prevention, legal awareness, communication and risk assessment at the center of efforts to create a safe, orderly and supportive educational environment.

Labuhanbatu Selatan Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang signed the agreement together with Head of the Labuhanbatu Selatan District Prosecutor's Office Alexander Zaldi, S.H., M.H., on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at the Command Center Hall of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government Office.

The signing took place simultaneously across regencies and cities throughout North Sumatra and was broadcast virtually from the Raja Inal Siregar Hall at the North Sumatra Governor's Office. At the provincial level, North Sumatra Governor M. Bobby Afif Nasution signed the agreement together with Head of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office Muhibuddin.

Meanwhile, regency and city governments, together with their respective local prosecutor's offices, established similar commitments in their areas, with the cooperation adjusted to the specific needs and challenges of the education sector in each region.

Prevention as a Priority

For the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government, the cooperation represents a strategic step to strengthen education governance while improving legal awareness within educational institutions.

The regional government believes that problems in the education sector should not only be addressed after they have occurred. Early preventive measures need to be given greater emphasis so that potential problems can be identified before developing into conflicts or legal proceedings.

The "Jaksa Sahabat Pendidik" program does not focus solely on handling legal problems that have already occurred. Instead, it promotes a preventive approach through communication, legal education, coordination and risk assessment involving the regional government, the prosecutor's office and education personnel.

Through stronger communication, the parties involved can identify various challenges that could disrupt the educational process. At the same time, this approach creates opportunities to discuss problems at an early stage, allowing educational institutions to take appropriate measures before situations escalate.

Head of the Labuhanbatu Selatan District Prosecutor's Office Alexander Zaldi, S.H., M.H., emphasized that the cooperation prioritizes a preventive approach through communication, coordination and risk assessment.

This approach makes prevention an essential part of building a healthy educational environment. With an adequate understanding of legal provisions, educators are expected to carry out their duties with greater confidence and professionalism while remaining within the applicable legal framework.

At the same time, students need a safe, comfortable and protected learning environment. Therefore, legal education is important not only for teachers and education personnel but also for students. It can help develop awareness of rights, responsibilities, obligations and the importance of complying with rules.

Building a Legally Aware Educational Environment

The Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government views cooperation with law enforcement authorities as more than a ceremonial signing of a cooperation document. The agreement is intended to pave the way for the development of a quality, integrity-driven and legally aware educational environment.

Educational institutions need guidance and legal education so that they understand the boundaries of their authority, recognize potential risks and take appropriate steps when problems arise. Such understanding is important to prevent poor decisions while ensuring that the educational process continues in accordance with applicable regulations.

Teachers and education personnel also need security and legal certainty when carrying out their duties. Likewise, students need an environment that supports their learning process and is free from pressure or disruptions that could affect their development.

The presence of the prosecutor's office through an approach focused on legal education and prevention is expected to strengthen relations between law enforcement authorities and the education sector. The prosecutor's office is not expected to act only when an alleged legal violation occurs, but also to serve as a partner in building legal awareness at an early stage.

This cooperation model provides room for open communication between the regional government, the prosecutor's office and educational institutions. Each party can raise concerns, identify risks and discuss preventive measures based on applicable laws and regulations.

The approach can also help educational institutions understand that compliance with regulations is an essential part of good school governance. Growing legal awareness within the education sector can support the development of a culture of discipline and integrity.

Toward Quality and Integrity-Driven Education

The cooperation between the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government and the Labuhanbatu Selatan District Prosecutor's Office also demonstrates that education development has a broader dimension.

Education is not limited to academic achievement or the development of an intelligent generation. It also encompasses character building, integrity, discipline and awareness of applicable rules.

An orderly educational environment creates better conditions for teachers to perform their duties professionally. A safe environment also enables students to participate in learning more comfortably, allowing the educational process to be carried out more effectively.

Therefore, cooperation among the regional government, prosecutor's office, teachers, education personnel, students and other stakeholders in the education sector is highly important. Such cooperation can help prevent potential problems before they develop into larger conflicts.

Through the "Jaksa Sahabat Pendidik" program, the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government and the Labuhanbatu Selatan District Prosecutor's Office are placing prevention, legal education, communication and coordination at the center of efforts to protect the quality and safety of education.

The commitment should not end with the signing of the agreement but must continue through concrete measures within educational institutions. Consistent implementation of the cooperation will be crucial in determining the extent to which the program can benefit teachers, education personnel, students and the wider community.

Building a quality education system requires more than classrooms. The education sector also needs a safe environment, sound governance, protected teachers, a comfortable learning environment for students and strong legal awareness among all stakeholders.

On this basis, the "Jaksa Sahabat Pendidik" program is expected to strengthen preventive efforts while further deepening relations between the education sector and law enforcement authorities. The initiative forms part of joint efforts to create a safe and integrity-driven educational environment in Labuhanbatu Selatan that supports the development of a qualified generation. (IDNC)
