LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Torgamba Police Sector has demonstrated its commitment to social welfare through its "Jumat Barokah" (Blessed Friday) program, reaching out to residents facing economic hardship and health problems. Torgamba Police Chief AKP Sunipan Gurusinga, S.H., accompanied by several police officers, personally visited chronically ill and elderly residents in Simp IV Hamlet, Aek Batu Village, Torgamba District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency, on Friday, October 2, 2026.

The initiative, which took place at approximately 3:20 p.m. local time, reflected the police force's commitment to serving the local community. In addition to distributing basic food supplies, the visit aimed to strengthen relations between the police and residents through a more personal and community-oriented approach.

During the activity, the Torgamba Police Chief was accompanied by PS Kanit Lantas AIPTU Karyanto, PS Kanit Binmas AIPTU B. Sinaga, PS Kanit Intel AIPTU PF Tanjung, and Bhabinkamtibmas BRIPTU Teopilus Gurusinga.

A total of four residents of Aek Batu Village received social assistance. They were individuals who required special attention because of their age, health conditions, or limited financial resources.

The recipients included Pola Gurning, 57, who lives in Gang Berlian, Simp IV, and suffers from a chronic illness. The other beneficiaries were Sujirah, 120, Supia, 75, and Rona Uli Arta Manik, 35. They also require assistance to help meet their daily living needs.

The food packages were handed over to the recipients personally. They consisted of various staple foods and everyday necessities, including rice, cooking oil, sugar, instant noodles, and tea powder. The assistance is expected to help ease the financial burden on the affected families.

Jumat Barokah Reflects Police Commitment to Social Welfare

Torgamba Police Chief AKP Sunipan Gurusinga explained that the social initiative was part of the Jumat Barokah program, which the Torgamba Police Sector continues to implement to support underprivileged residents across Torgamba District.

According to him, many residents still need assistance, particularly those suffering from chronic illnesses, elderly individuals, and families with limited financial resources.

For this reason, he emphasized the importance of developing a stronger sense of social responsibility through the involvement of various community groups. People who are more financially fortunate are also encouraged to share part of their income or resources with those experiencing difficult circumstances.

Through this spirit of solidarity, the Jumat Barokah program is intended not only to distribute essential supplies but also to encourage the community to cultivate a culture of mutual support and generosity.

Although the assistance consists of basic food supplies, it is expected to provide immediate benefits to the recipients, particularly in helping them meet their everyday household needs.

DEMONSTRATING SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Torgamba Police Chief AKP Sunipan Gurusinga distributes basic food supplies to underprivileged residents through the Jumat Barokah program as a gesture of social solidarity and concern for the community.

Police Strengthen Their Connection With the Community

The social activities organized by the Torgamba Police Sector are also part of broader efforts to establish closer personal relationships between police officers and the community.

The officers' direct presence in residential areas demonstrates that public service responsibilities extend beyond law enforcement and maintaining security and public order (Kamtibmas).

The police also have a social responsibility to care for the community, particularly by giving attention to individuals who need assistance and compassion.

Through these visits, residents have opportunities to communicate directly with police officers. At the same time, officers can gain a firsthand understanding of living conditions within their jurisdiction and develop greater awareness of various social issues requiring attention.

For people living with chronic illnesses and elderly residents, such personal attention carries particular significance. Beyond providing essential supplies, these visits convey a meaningful message that individuals and institutions care about their circumstances.

This people-oriented approach also reinforces the police's role as an integral part of society. Through direct communication and personal engagement, the police hope to maintain harmonious relationships with the community over the long term.

CALL FOR GREATER COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: Torgamba Police Chief AKP Sunipan Gurusinga, accompanied by police officers, encourages residents to strengthen social responsibility and promote a culture of mutual assistance, particularly in supporting people with chronic illnesses, elderly individuals, and economically disadvantaged families.

Community Encouraged to Strengthen Mutual Support

The Torgamba Police Chief also called on all sections of society to take an active role in strengthening social solidarity. In his view, social problems should not be regarded solely as the responsibility of the government or security forces. Instead, addressing these challenges requires the active participation of people from all walks of life.

Those with sufficient financial resources are encouraged to help their neighbors in need. Such assistance can take the form of providing basic food supplies or other forms of support, depending on each individual's financial capacity.

The spirit of mutual assistance and shared responsibility represents one of the important values that the Jumat Barokah program seeks to promote. Through broader community participation, social assistance is expected to reach even more people who need it.

The Jumat Barokah activity in Simp IV Hamlet, Aek Batu Village, Torgamba District, proceeded safely and without incident until its conclusion.

The Torgamba Police Sector hopes that the social program can continue on a regular basis and expand into other areas of Torgamba District, enabling it to reach more people in need.

In addition to their responsibilities for maintaining security and public order, the distribution of basic food supplies demonstrates that police service also encompasses social responsibility, humanity, and a direct presence within the community to provide immediate assistance.

Through this program, the Torgamba Police Sector seeks to further strengthen its relationship with the community while fostering solidarity and a greater willingness to support people facing difficult circumstances. (IDNC)
