MONITORING OF CORRECTIONAL FACILITY HOUSING BLOCKS: Head of the Class III Kotapinang Correctional Facility Haris Damanik conducts an inspection round and direct monitoring of the housing blocks together with structural officials and the Karupam to ensure security and order at the facility, Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - Head of the Class III Kotapinang Correctional Facility, Haris Damanik, S.H., M.H., together with structural officials, has tightened security monitoring through direct inspection rounds, including immediate checks of the inmate housing blocks, on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

During the inspection, Haris Damanik personally walked through the housing block area together with the Head of the Security Team (Karupam). The monitoring was part of routine security checks aimed at ensuring that conditions inside the correctional facility remained safe, orderly, and under control.

The inspection rounds also served to identify potential disturbances to security and order at an early stage. Through direct checks, the management and security personnel could observe actual conditions on the ground while ensuring that all duties were carried out in accordance with applicable procedures.

Direct Inspection of Housing Blocks

The presence of the prison chief together with structural officials and security personnel in the housing blocks demonstrated that security monitoring does not rely solely on reports. Direct inspections are an important component of ensuring that conditions inside the correctional facility remain under control.

During the inspection, personnel also checked several areas included within the facility's security zone. The monitoring provided an immediate overview of conditions on the ground while ensuring that inmate activities were carried out in an orderly manner.

The inspection rounds also constituted a form of direct supervision that contributed to maintaining security stability. Management could directly observe how officers carried out their duties on the ground and ensure that security standards were properly implemented.

In correctional facilities, security and order are two interconnected aspects. Therefore, correctional officers must conduct monitoring consistently to prevent potential disturbances before they occur.

Prison chief Haris Damanik emphasized the importance of vigilance among all employees in carrying out their duties. Every officer must be able to recognize situations and developments within the correctional facility so that potential disturbances can be identified quickly and followed up accordingly.

Such vigilance is part of the responsibility of correctional officers in maintaining security within the correctional system. Officers are expected not only to perform their duties according to established procedures but also to closely monitor developments within their respective work areas.

Security Personnel Strengthen Coordination

The monitoring of the housing blocks also provided an opportunity to strengthen coordination between management, structural officials, and members of the security team. Such cooperation is important because security officers are at the forefront of maintaining security and order within the correctional facility.

The presence of the Karupam during the inspection demonstrated the continuous coordination between structural management and personnel directly responsible for security duties. Effective coordination enables any developments in the situation to be reported quickly and appropriate measures to be taken.

This monitoring pattern also helps ensure that security duties are performed in accordance with applicable regulations. Management can directly assess conditions on the ground, while personnel are once again reminded of the importance of vigilance in carrying out their responsibilities.

Ensuring security inside a correctional facility cannot be achieved solely through regular inspections. Direct supervision is also necessary to strengthen discipline and ensure that all employees maintain the same level of attention toward potential security disturbances.

Through the inspection rounds, personnel can directly monitor various areas of the housing blocks. The measure is also part of efforts to create a safe and supportive environment for the implementation of inmate care and rehabilitation programs.

Operational Readiness Remains a Priority

A safe and orderly correctional facility requires multilayered supervision as well as the consistent involvement of all employees. The direct participation of the prison chief in inspecting the housing blocks is part of efforts to ensure that security standards are maintained in daily operations.

The monitoring also underscores that every development within the correctional facility must be observed collectively. Any potential security issue should be identified and addressed at an early stage so that it does not develop into an incident that could disrupt security and order.

The inspection rounds are not merely routine activities. Direct supervision is an instrument for maintaining stable and orderly conditions while strengthening the operational readiness of personnel in carrying out their duties within the correctional system.

During the activity, Prison Chief Haris Damanik, structural officials, and the Karupam ensured that monitoring was conducted directly in the housing block areas. The presence of management on the ground also encouraged personnel to carry out their security responsibilities consistently.

The Class III Kotapinang Correctional Facility continues to regard security and order as important components of its correctional duties. Regular monitoring is intended to help maintain safe, orderly, and supportive conditions within the facility for the implementation of correctional programs.

At the same time, direct supervision represents a form of operational readiness among personnel to respond to various potential developments that could affect security. Close coordination between management, structural officials, the Karupam, and security officers remains an important factor in maintaining stability within the correctional facility.

Through direct supervision and continuous coordination, the Class III Kotapinang Correctional Facility continues to make security and order a priority in its daily operations. These measures are intended to contribute to a safe correctional environment while supporting the orderly implementation of inmate care and rehabilitation programs. (IDNC)
