BANDA ACEH | INDATANEWS.COM - A suspect identified by the initials EDS, who had previously been listed as a wanted person (DPO) in connection with an alleged child abuse case, voluntarily surrendered to the Central Aceh Police (Polres Aceh Tengah) on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at approximately 9:00 p.m. local time. The surrender forms part of the ongoing criminal investigation currently being handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of Polres Aceh Tengah.
Central Aceh Police Chief AKBP Muhamad Taufiq, S.I.K., M.H., through Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit AKP Abdul Mufakhir, S.H., M.H., confirmed that the suspect had turned himself in voluntarily. EDS arrived cooperatively at the Criminal Investigation Unit office to face the legal proceedings against him."The suspect, who had previously been officially listed as wanted, voluntarily appeared at Polres Aceh Tengah and surrendered himself. Investigators immediately proceeded with all legal procedures required under the applicable laws," AKP Abdul Mufakhir said.
The surrender marks the latest development in the child abuse case, which has drawn significant public attention. Police emphasized that the investigation is being conducted in accordance with applicable laws while safeguarding the legal rights of all parties involved.Investigators then verified the suspect's identity and confirmed his legal status based on the existing investigation documents. After completing these procedures, investigators from the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the Criminal Investigation Unit continued questioning the suspect to further clarify the facts of the case.
The investigation is based on Police Report Number LP/B/76/V/SPKT/POLRES ACEH TENGAH/POLDA ACEH. According to investigators, EDS is suspected of violating Article 80 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 76C of Law No. 35 of 2014, which amends Law No. 23 of 2002 on Child Protection, governing criminal acts of child abuse.Police stated that all investigative measures are being conducted in accordance with Indonesia's criminal procedure laws. Authorities also ensured that every administrative process is being handled carefully to guarantee full compliance with legal requirements.
Investigators are currently continuing to complete the case file as part of preparations for the next stage of the criminal proceedings. The Criminal Investigation Unit of Polres Aceh Tengah is also coordinating closely with public prosecutors (JPU) to prepare the subsequent legal process.
The coordination aims to ensure that all procedural documents meet both formal and substantive legal requirements before the case proceeds to prosecution.
