ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM - Rain falling over Takengon in Central Aceh Regency failed to dampen the enthusiasm of participants at the flag-lowering ceremony marking the 81st anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. The ceremony was held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Musara Alun Square in Bebesen District, Central Aceh. Despite the persistent rain, the event proceeded in a solemn and dignified atmosphere, with all participants and personnel carrying out the ceremony in the pouring rain.
The flag-lowering ceremony began at 4:20 p.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB) and ended at around 5:20 p.m. Central Aceh Deputy Regent Muchsin Hasan, M.S.P., served as the ceremony commander. Several members of the Central Aceh Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) were also present and remained throughout the entire event until its conclusion.
Central Aceh Police Chief AKBP Muhamad Taufiq, S.I.K., M.H., was among the Forkopimda members in attendance. The presence of regional leaders alongside government officials, TNI and Polri personnel, the Paskibraka flag-raising team, veterans, community organizations, and residents reflected a strong spirit of togetherness in commemorating Independence Day.
The rain, which continued throughout the ceremony, did not prompt participants to leave the square. They remained standing and followed every stage of the ceremony in a disciplined and orderly manner. The personnel on duty also carried out their respective responsibilities according to the established procedures, allowing the lowering of the Red-and-White flag to proceed smoothly.

Despite the rain, the Paskibraka flag team carried out its duties during the lowering of the Red-and-White flag. The members demonstrated discipline and readiness in carrying out every stage of the procedure, which formed an important part of the Independence Day celebrations.
