BELAWAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Head of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office, Muhibuddin, S.H., M.H., conducted an unannounced inspection at the Belawan District Prosecutor's Office on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. The surprise visit forms part of direct supervisory efforts to assess the performance of prosecutorial institutions within the jurisdiction of North Sumatra, particularly the Belawan Prosecutor's Office.

The inspection was also attended by several senior officials from the North Sumatra Prosecutor's Office. Among them were the Assistant for Intelligence, Irfan Wibowo, S.H., M.H., the Assistant for Supervision, Agung Ardiyanto, S.H., M.H., the Assistant for Personnel Development, Herlina Setyorini, S.H., M.H., and the Head of the Administrative Division, Rio Aditya, S.H., M.H. Together, they carried out a comprehensive on-site review of the institution.

Comprehensive Review of Work Areas

The inspection took place at the Belawan Prosecutor's Office building located on Jalan Raya Pelabuhan Belawan, Bagan Deli Subdistrict, Medan Belawan District, Medan City. Muhibuddin and his team examined various operational areas, including administrative rooms, public service facilities, and evidence storage units.

Integrity as the Foundation of Law Enforcement

In his remarks, Muhibuddin emphasized that the unannounced inspection should not be viewed merely as a routine supervisory activity, but rather as a concrete instrument to assess discipline, independence, and accountability among personnel.

He stressed that every employee must always be prepared to carry out their duties without prior warning. Integrity, he noted, remains the core foundation of fair and credible law enforcement.

Strict Stance on Gratification and Misconduct

Furthermore, Muhibuddin delivered a firm message to all Belawan Prosecutor's Office personnel, urging them to reject any form of gratification or improper benefits that are not in accordance with legal provisions.

"Prosecutors must have the courage to refuse any form of gratification, especially those related to their duties and functions. Profession and office are a divine responsibility for which we must be accountable. Therefore, we must work honestly, courageously, and with integrity," Muhibuddin stated.

Promoting a Clean and Transparent Work Culture

The North Sumatra Prosecutor emphasized the importance of establishing a clean, transparent, and professional work culture within the Belawan Prosecutor's Office. The focus, he said, is not only on performance targets but also on ethical conduct throughout the law enforcement process.

Public trust in the prosecutor's institution, he added, depends heavily on the behavior of personnel in the field. Every action must therefore reflect the values of justice and accountability.

Strengthening Internal Oversight

Muhibuddin also highlighted the need for stronger internal supervision to detect and prevent potential violations at an early stage. Leaders in all units are required to continuously guide and monitor their subordinates.

Through consistent oversight and sustainable personnel development, the overall performance of the prosecutor's office is expected to improve.

Routine Unannounced Evaluations

The unannounced inspection at the Belawan Prosecutor's Office is part of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office strategy to ensure that all units remain disciplined, professional, and operationally ready at all times. Such evaluations are planned to be conducted regularly and without prior notification.

These measures aim to strengthen discipline among personnel while improving the overall quality of legal services in North Sumatra, particularly within the jurisdiction of the Belawan Prosecutor's Office. (IDNC)
