LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - Officers from Kampung Rakyat Police, part of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police, searched a house in Pekan Tolan Hamlet, Perkebunan Tolan Village, Kampung Rakyat District, on Sunday, 18 October 2026. During the operation, police detained two men and a woman for questioning. They also seized suspected crystal methamphetamine with a total gross weight of 3.62 grams, along with several items that may be linked to suspected drug-related offences.

The search took place at around 12.30 pm Western Indonesian Time. It followed information from members of the public about suspected drug dealing that had caused concern among local residents. Acting on the information, police began preliminary inquiries before officers went to the property.

The two men were identified as KMT, also known as Komo, aged 33, and HSNS, also known as Heri, aged 42. A woman identified by the initials JAN, also known as Manda, was also taken into custody for further questioning.

Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Chief AKBP Rosef Efendi, S.I.K., M.H., CPHR., announced the findings through Kampung Rakyat Police Chief AKP Iwan Mashuri, S.H., M.H., at Kampung Rakyat Police Station on Monday, 19 October 2026.

Police Seize Suspected Crystal Meth and Other Items

During the search, officers found two plastic packets containing a crystalline substance suspected to be crystal methamphetamine. The packets had gross weights of 2.89 grams and 0.73 grams respectively, bringing the total gross weight of the suspected drugs seized to 3.62 grams.

Police also confiscated 19 empty sealable plastic bags, two lighters, a packet of so-called Headshead, three scoop-shaped tubular objects, an empty bong, three mobile phones and cash totalling 1.4 million Indonesian rupiah.

All the seized items are being examined as evidence. Investigators aim to establish further details about the suspected drug-related activities at the location.

According to AKP Iwan Mashuri, the case began with information from members of the public about suspected drug dealing in Pekan Tolan Hamlet. In response, the sector police chief instructed the head of the criminal investigation unit and an operational team to investigate the reported location.

Officers first monitored the property before carrying out the search. They encountered two men and a woman at the house and took them in for further questioning. Police then searched the building for items that might be connected to the suspected offences.

During preliminary questioning, KMT, also known as Komo, reportedly told police that the crystal meth found at the property belonged to him. Investigators must verify this statement during the subsequent inquiry to establish the facts and determine the respective roles of those involved.

Public Tip-Off Prompts Police Investigation

AKP Iwan stressed that information from the public plays an important role in detecting and investigating suspected drug offences. He said police follow up reports they receive and conduct inquiries in accordance with the applicable procedures.

"We take information from the public very seriously. Every report of suspected drug dealing is investigated in accordance with the applicable procedures.

"We encourage members of the public to remain actively involved and report information so that residential areas remain safe and protected from the dangers of drugs," AKP Iwan Mashuri said.

The case highlights how residents' vigilance can help authorities obtain initial information about suspected criminal activity in residential neighbourhoods. However, police must verify all reports and gather legally admissible evidence before deciding whether to take further criminal proceedings.

Public involvement must go hand in hand with professional law enforcement. Residents can contribute responsibly to investigations by sharing credible information through official channels. They should avoid taking matters into their own hands or engaging in actions that could endanger themselves or others.

Police Urge Public to Report Suspected Drug Activity on 110

The Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Chief emphasised that tackling drug-related crime requires close cooperation between the police and the public. Reliable information from residents can help authorities investigate suspected drug dealing while improving safety in residential areas.

AKP Iwan Mashuri urged residents to report any information about suspected drug dealing through the police emergency call centre on 110 or at their nearest police station.

"Members of the public are urged not to hesitate to provide credible information about suspected drug dealing through the 110 call centre or at the nearest police station. Their own safety and the safety of others must always come first. No one should take the law into their own hands," he warned.

According to police, tackling drug-related crime involves more than taking action against suspected offenders. Prevention and a strong sense of public responsibility are equally important. If left unaddressed, the dangers associated with drugs can seriously affect families, young people and social harmony in residential communities.

Families and communities should therefore remain alert to potential drug-related risks and use official reporting channels when they encounter relevant information. At the same time, they should avoid taking unauthorised action and leave the handling of suspected criminal offences to the relevant authorities.

The police operation in Pekan Tolan Hamlet demonstrates how information from the public can provide the starting point for an investigation. Regardless of how the case develops, the subsequent proceedings must respect the presumption of innocence. Guilt and criminal liability must be established on the basis of evidence obtained lawfully.

Kampung Rakyat Police are expected to continue investigating the case in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations. Questioning the individuals taken into custody and examining the seized items are important steps towards establishing the facts and determining the appropriate legal action.

Responsible public participation, combined with professional law enforcement, is essential to protecting communities from the dangers of drugs and creating a safer residential environment. (IDNC)
