INSPECTION OF THE NEW PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE BUILDING: North Sumatra Governor Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution inspects the new provincial prosecutor’s office building in Medan on Tuesday, 13 October 2026. Completion is targeted for 2027.

MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The new building for the North Sumatra Provincial Prosecutor's Office is expected to reach its final construction stage in 2027. The provincial government has supported the construction of the main structure, while both institutions are strengthening coordination to support governance and prepare regional development programmes for the coming year.

North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution inspected the construction site during a visit to the provincial prosecutor's office at Jalan Jenderal Besar A. H. Nasution No. 1 C, Medan, on Tuesday, 13 October 2026.

The visit also provided an opportunity for both institutions to assess development initiatives implemented in 2026 and discuss regional priorities for 2027. Closer coordination with law enforcement agencies is expected to strengthen regional administration and support development programmes that reflect the needs and interests of the public.

North Sumatra Provincial Prosecutor Muhibuddin said construction of the building's main structure had progressed with support from the provincial government. The remaining work is scheduled for completion next year.

"The main structure has already been built, with support from the provincial government. We will complete the remaining work next year, God willing," Muhibuddin said.

The completion target was among the main issues discussed during the meeting between Bobby Nasution and the provincial prosecutor's office. Once finished, the building is expected to provide more suitable facilities for the institution to carry out its duties and deliver services to the public.

Building Completion Targeted for 2027

With the main structure in place, the next phase will focus on completing the remaining construction work in line with the prosecutor's office's schedule. Continued coordination and support will be essential to keep the project on track.

The provincial government's contribution to the structural work highlights cooperation between the two institutions in addressing infrastructure needs. Completing the project will require further action to ensure that the remaining stages proceed according to plan.

For the provincial prosecutor's office, adequate facilities are expected to improve its ability to carry out institutional responsibilities. Continued engagement with the provincial government will also help maintain support for its operational and development needs.

Closer Coordination to Strengthen Governance

Beyond inspecting the construction site, Bobby Nasution emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation with the North Sumatra Provincial Prosecutor's Office. He said the meeting offered an opportunity to review progress in 2026 and prepare development programmes for the following year.

"Our visit is, of course, intended to strengthen cooperation, advance future development, jointly evaluate the programmes implemented in 2026 and discuss North Sumatra's development in 2027," Bobby said.

He also welcomed the cooperation established between the provincial government and the prosecutor's office, expressing hope that the partnership would further improve the regional administration's ability to fulfil its duties and responsibilities.

"Hopefully, this will strengthen our internal structures in carrying out the responsibilities of regional administration. The initiatives introduced by the prosecutor's office have already been commendable," Bobby said.

Cooperation between regional government and the prosecutor's office is considered important for ensuring effective coordination in implementing government programmes. Through regular communication, both institutions can fulfil their respective responsibilities while promoting accountable governance.

Education Initiative Supports Teachers and Schools

Cooperation between the North Sumatra Provincial Government and the provincial prosecutor's office also extends to education. One example is the Jaksa Sahabat Pendidik programme, which translates roughly as "Prosecutors as Partners of Educators". The initiative was developed to support school principals and teachers in managing and delivering educational services.

The programme demonstrates how institutional cooperation can contribute directly to better public services. Legal guidance is intended to help school leaders and teachers understand the legal aspects of their responsibilities and ensure that school activities comply with applicable regulations.

This collaboration shows that coordination between institutions is not limited to the construction and improvement of physical infrastructure. It can also help improve the quality and management of public services. More intensive cooperation through programmes tailored to regional needs is expected to deliver greater benefits in the future.

Bobby Nasution was accompanied during the visit by acting North Sumatra Provincial Secretary Timur Tumanggor and Basarin Tanjung, Assistant for Government Affairs and Public Welfare at the provincial government secretariat. Several heads of provincial government organisational units and representatives of the provincial prosecutor's office also attended the meeting.

Through closer coordination and continued support for the construction project, the provincial government and the prosecutor's office aim to strengthen their institutional capacity ahead of the 2027 agenda. Completing the remaining work on the new prosecutor's office building remains one of the concrete targets to be pursued next year. (IDNC)
