VISITING THE NORTH SUMATRA HIGH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE: Labuhanbatu Selatan Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang during an audience and meeting with Head of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office Muhibuddin at the North Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office in Medan, Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that governance is carried out in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. This was emphasized by Labuhanbatu Selatan Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang during an audience and meeting with the Head of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office, Muhibuddin, SH., MH., on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

The meeting was held in the meeting and transit room on the second floor of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office in Medan. The audience was not merely a ceremonial visit, but also provided an opportunity for the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government to further strengthen communication, coordination, and cooperation with law enforcement institutions, particularly the Prosecutor's Office.

Regent Fery Sahputra was personally received by North Sumatra Chief Prosecutor Muhibuddin. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Head of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office Eko Adhyaksono, SH., MH., and Head of the Civil and Administrative Affairs Division of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office Nur Handayani, S.H., M.H.

Representing the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government, Regent Fery Sahputra attended together with Regional Secretary M. Reza Pahlevi Nasution, Head of the Labuhanbatu Selatan District Prosecutor's Office Alexander Zaldi, as well as several heads of regional agencies.

The audience was part of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government's efforts to strengthen legal certainty in the implementation of government duties and regional development. The regional government views coordination with the Prosecutor's Office as an important step to ensure that all programs are implemented transparently, accountably, and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Strengthening Legal Certainty for Development

Fery Sahputra said communication and coordination with the Prosecutor's Office play an important role in building prudent yet effective governance in the implementation of various programs.

According to him, the role of the Prosecutor's Office is not limited to law enforcement. It also has a strategic function in supporting the government through coordination and legal assistance in carrying out government duties and regional development programs.

"The purpose of this joint audience is to use our time efficiently while also taking into consideration the busy schedule of the Head of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office. This visit is important to strengthen cooperation between the regional government and law enforcement institutions, in this case the Prosecutor's Office," Fery said.

He emphasized that the regional government needs close communication with law enforcement institutions so that various development programs in Labuhanbatu Selatan can be implemented optimally while remaining within the legal framework.

In his view, legal certainty is one of the important foundations of regional development. This is particularly relevant because the regional government manages numerous programs financed through state and regional budget funds.

Every policy decision and use of public funds must provide clear benefits to the community and be administratively and legally accountable, he said.

For this reason, the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government believes that early coordination can serve as a preventive measure to help avoid potential legal issues that may arise during the implementation of development programs.

The regional government also wants to ensure that development is not focused solely on physical construction targets or the absorption of budget allocations. Instead, transparency, accountability, effectiveness, and compliance with legal provisions must remain priorities in every program.

Cooperation Expected to Continue Beyond the Audience

Fery Sahputra said the visit also took into account time efficiency, given the busy schedule of the Head of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office. However, the limited time did not diminish the substance and significance of the meeting between the two institutions.

Instead, the audience became an important moment to establish and further strengthen communication channels between the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government and the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office.

Institutional communication is becoming increasingly important as the regional government implements various programs that directly affect the interests of the public while also involving the management of public funds.

In this context, coordination with law enforcement institutions can help the regional government better understand legal aspects in the implementation of policy decisions. At the same time, it forms part of efforts to make regional development more prudent and responsible.

Fery hopes that the cooperation established with the Prosecutor's Office will not end with the audience. He wants the coordination between the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government and the Prosecutor's Office to continue in supporting various government and development programs in the region.

"This visit is part of our efforts to strengthen communication and cooperation. We want all government and development programs in Labuhanbatu Selatan to be implemented properly, effectively, and in accordance with applicable regulations," Fery said.

The statement reflects the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government's intention to further expand institutional cooperation with law enforcement agencies. The regional government wants to ensure that every policy decision has a clear legal basis and that its implementation can be properly accounted for.

Good Governance as the Foundation of Development

The meeting with the Head of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office also signals that the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government is pursuing governance that not only prioritizes speed in carrying out its work, but also emphasizes prudence in making and implementing policy decisions.

For the regional government, rapid development without adequate consideration of legal certainty and compliance may lead to problems at a later stage. Conversely, development based on coordination, transparency, accountability, and good governance is expected to deliver greater and more sustainable benefits to the people of Labuhanbatu Selatan.

This principle is particularly important for programs financed through public funds. Every stage requires careful planning so that development objectives can be achieved without overlooking legal and administrative considerations.

By strengthening communication with the Prosecutor's Office, the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government is also demonstrating its preventive approach to governance. The government does not want to wait until legal problems arise, but instead seeks to strengthen legal understanding and coordination from the planning and implementation stages of its programs.

Through stronger cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office, the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency Government views legal compliance not merely as an administrative obligation. Rather, legal certainty is considered an important component of its strategy to guide development and ensure that it is implemented in a targeted, transparent manner and delivers tangible benefits to the people of Labuhanbatu Selatan.
