DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - Deli Serdang Deputy Regent Lom Lom Suwondo SS swore in 54 officials in the Deli Serdang Regency Government on Thursday, 22 October 2026, and formally assigned them to their new posts. The ceremony took place in the Cendana Hall on the second floor of the Deli Serdang Regency Government office. The appointments are intended to strengthen public administration and improve the quality of public services.
The newly appointed officials comprise 17 administrators and 37 supervisory officials. Each is expected to carry out their responsibilities professionally, uphold integrity and implement government programmes effectively. In his address, Lom Lom stressed that every position carried an obligation to serve the public responsibly. He urged the officials to put the interests of the community first in carrying out their duties.
"A position is an obligation, not a privilege. It means responsibility, not merely authority," he said.He emphasised that public office was not simply a matter of rank but an opportunity to deliver tangible improvements. Officials, he said, must translate the trust placed in them into measurable results that directly benefit the public.
Lom Lom urged the newly appointed officials to justify the government's trust through concrete action, sound decisions and the achievement of performance targets. Their success, he said, should be measured not only by the completion of administrative tasks but also by the quality of services and the impact of their decisions on people's lives.
He also warned against abusing official authority. Public servants must comply with regulations, avoid actions that harm the community and ensure that administrative procedures are conducted fairly and professionally.Lom Lom called for unnecessary bureaucratic obstacles to be removed so that residents could access government services more easily. He said the administration needed reliable procedures, disciplined staff and a clear commitment to putting public interests above personal or group interests.
He added that ethical conduct, transparency and responsible use of authority were essential to strengthening public confidence in the regency administration.
As part of the reshuffle, Antonius Tarigan, formerly head of the Kutalimbaru subdistrict, was appointed head of STM Hilir subdistrict. Sandi Sihombing, who previously led STM Hilir, will take over leadership of Kutalimbaru. Jalaluddin was also appointed head of Deli Tua Timur.
The officials are expected to adapt quickly to their new responsibilities, understand local needs and improve cooperation with other government agencies and residents. They must also maintain ongoing programmes while identifying ways to improve public services in their respective areas.Lom Lom reminded the officials that they must set an example for their staff through discipline, ethical conduct, effective communication and respectful engagement with the community.
"You must lead by example through discipline, ethical conduct and the way you interact with the public. Create a working environment built on mutual respect, open to suggestions and focused on results," he said.He also encouraged the officials to foster a productive workplace in which staff could communicate openly, contribute ideas and work together to achieve organisational goals.
Lom Lom stressed that personnel changes must lead to tangible improvements in performance. Changes in responsibilities, he said, should not disrupt public services or delay development programmes in the areas concerned.
Lom Lom also called for better coordination and regular performance reviews to ensure that government programmes reached their intended beneficiaries, met their targets and delivered tangible benefits to the community.
He emphasised that public funds and other government resources must be managed effectively, efficiently, transparently and accountably. Spending decisions must have a clear justification and comply with applicable regulations.Regular reviews would help identify implementation problems early, improve working procedures and ensure that public resources supported the regency's development priorities. This approach would also help prevent unnecessary expenditure while improving the quality of government work.
Lom Lom expressed his expectation that all newly appointed officials would promptly familiarise themselves with their duties, maintain the confidence of government leaders and residents, and demonstrate a firm commitment to better public services. The appointment of 54 officials is intended to strengthen the Deli Serdang Regency Government's administrative capacity and support the implementation of development programmes. Ultimately, the success of the reshuffle will depend on how effectively officials perform their duties, how responsibly they manage public resources and how accessible government services become to residents.
Through ethical leadership, closer cooperation and a strong focus on results, the Deli Serdang Regency Government is expected to become more professional, responsive and attentive to the needs of the community. (IDNC)REPORTER: Edi Saputra | EDITOR: Fik Sagala
