Through sustained collaboration, they aim to ensure that personnel perform their duties professionally while fulfilling their responsibilities to the public.
Public trust is a fundamental factor in the work of law enforcement agencies. Maintaining and building that trust requires the police and prosecutors to strengthen coordination, exercise their respective powers in accordance with applicable regulations, and deliver services characterised by professionalism and fairness.
The meeting between Sony Irawan and Muhibuddin formed part of broader efforts to improve communication between the North Sumatra Regional Police and the provincial prosecutor's office. Both institutions perform closely related functions within the criminal justice system, making effective coordination essential to ensuring that law enforcement proceedings run smoothly.Their cooperation is also intended to help both institutions carry out their respective duties effectively within the limits of their statutory authority. This shared commitment also highlights the importance of constructive institutional relations in maintaining legal certainty and strengthening public confidence in law enforcement agencies.
Alongside strengthening institutional relations, both leaders emphasised the importance of a public-oriented and humane approach to law enforcement within the Criminal Justice System (CJS).
A human-centred approach requires personnel to exercise their authority professionally while respecting the rights of the public. Law enforcement must not be limited to the application of regulations alone. The principles of fairness, legal certainty and responsible public service are equally important. In this regard, cooperation between the police and prosecutors plays a vital role in ensuring the continuity of legal proceedings in accordance with each institution's respective responsibilities. Effective coordination is expected to facilitate the work of both agencies while contributing to better services for the public.
Strengthening public trust, however, also requires the consistent application of these principles in day-to-day operations. The commitments made by institutional leaders must be reflected in the responsible performance of duties, compliance with applicable regulations and professional conduct among all personnel.Through this approach, cooperation between the police and prosecutors is intended to go beyond formal institutional arrangements and deliver tangible improvements in the quality of services experienced by the public.
