BANDA ACEH | INDATANEWS.COM – Six months after devastating floods and landslides struck multiple regions across Aceh, many communities are still struggling to recover. Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf has called for the immediate rehabilitation of damaged farmland, irrigation networks, bridges, and rivers, warning that delays could hamper economic recovery and increase the risk of future disasters.
Muzakir made the remarks during a coordination and evaluation meeting on post-disaster recovery efforts attended by Indonesian Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at the Multipurpose Hall of the Aceh Governor's Office in Banda Aceh.
The meeting brought together representatives from 18 disaster-affected regencies and municipalities, along with delegates from various ministries and government agencies.
The damage to irrigation systems and transportation infrastructure has further complicated daily life, particularly for residents in rural areas.
"The most urgent issues involve rice fields, irrigation networks, roads, and bridges. Rivers also need immediate rehabilitation to prevent future flooding during periods of heavy rainfall," Muzakir Manaf said.
He emphasized that restoring critical infrastructure is essential to reviving local economic activity and ensuring food security across affected communities.

Muzakir noted that the issue directly affects the safety and livelihoods of thousands of residents living along riverbanks. Without prompt intervention, future flooding could delay reconstruction efforts and hinder economic recovery.
He stressed the importance of close collaboration between the central government and the Aceh Provincial Government to accelerate rehabilitation programs.
"God willing, we will continue working closely with the central government to ensure reconstruction efforts are carried out effectively and damaged facilities are restored," he said.
The governor added that support from Jakarta remains crucial to ensuring that rehabilitation and reconstruction programs can be implemented efficiently and on schedule.
He warned that persistent inflation could weaken household purchasing power and place additional pressure on the province's recovery efforts. As a result, he called for stronger support from the central government to help stabilize prices and control inflation.
Fadhlullah also reported on the implementation of Regional Financial Transfers (Transfer Keuangan Daerah/TKD), noting that approximately 45 percent of allocated funds have been disbursed so far.
He urged local governments to accelerate budget execution to ensure development and reconstruction programs can be completed within the planned timeframe.
"Budget implementation must be accelerated this year as we continue advocating for the extension of Aceh's Special Autonomy Fund," Fadhlullah said.

Of the 18 affected regencies and municipalities, ten have now returned to full operational status, reflecting progress achieved through cooperation between central and regional authorities.
"Based on the National Task Force's assessment, ten regencies and municipalities have already resumed normal operations. We have also allocated additional budget support to accelerate recovery efforts," Tito Karnavian said.
The government is monitoring progress through several indicators, including the functionality of public administration, healthcare services, educational facilities, and transportation networks.
To support agricultural recovery, the central government has allocated approximately Rp371 billion for the rehabilitation of rice fields, irrigation systems, and other productive land damaged by floods and landslides.
Tito also reaffirmed the government's commitment to extending Aceh's Special Autonomy Fund. The central government is currently pursuing efforts to restore the previous two-percent allocation beginning next year to strengthen the province's fiscal capacity.
"The TKD funds already allocated this year should be fully utilized for reconstruction programs so that next year's planning and budgeting process can proceed smoothly," he said.
The coordination meeting served as an important platform for aligning recovery strategies between central and regional governments. Authorities hope the collaboration will accelerate reconstruction efforts and help communities across Aceh return to normal social and economic conditions as quickly as possible. (IDNC)
