MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM – The Mayor of Medan, Rico Tri Putra Bayu Waas, once again stepped directly into the community to receive public concerns through the Sapa Warga program, combined with a communal gotong royong clean-up activity held on Jalan Muara Sipongi, Gaharu Village, Medan Timur District, on Saturday (May 9, 2026).
The event served as an open dialogue platform between the city government and residents, where the mayor, alongside local officials, also inspected ongoing cleaning and maintenance work in the area.

In his remarks, Rico Tri Putra Bayu Waas emphasized that the engagement was not merely for collecting complaints, but for delivering immediate solutions.
"Whatever the issues are, please raise them openly. I have deliberately brought the heads of relevant agencies today so that every complaint can be addressed directly, not just recorded," he told residents.
Residents Raise Infrastructure and Property Concerns
The discussion took place in an open and constructive atmosphere, with several residents voicing their concerns directly to the mayor.

One resident, Husni Thamrin Rambe, requested government assistance in resolving legal ownership issues involving a mosque and a foundation-owned plot of land on Jalan Purwosari, which remain unsettled.
Another resident, Zulfahri, highlighted infrastructure problems on Jalan Perwira 1, particularly the uneven road elevation near a mosque compared to a nearby warehouse area, which causes recurring flooding during heavy rain.He also reported multiple non-functioning streetlights that have yet to be repaired.
Additional concerns included inadequate drainage systems and ongoing waste management issues.
OPDs Ordered to Take Immediate Action

In response, Rico Tri Putra Bayu Waas instructed all relevant regional apparatus organizations (OPDs) to conduct immediate on-site inspections.
He rejected purely administrative responses and stressed the need for fast and concrete action from all agencies involved.
According to him, the Sapa Warga program is an effective mechanism to accelerate development and improve the quality of life for residents in Medan.
"By directly absorbing community aspirations, we hope development becomes more evenly distributed and people's living standards continue to improve," he said.

The event was attended by city government representatives, department heads, religious leaders, and local community figures.
