DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - The holiday marking the 81st anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia on Monday, August 17, 2026, was used by three young karateka from Dojo Alfarizi Karate for an activity that went beyond simply passing the time. Ilyas Aif Saputra, Ilyasa Alif Saputra and Haikal Alif Saputra spent their free time raffling at Budayaland in Tanjung Morawa District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra.
The three karateka used Independence Day as an opportunity to strengthen their bond while also developing their skills in concentration, precision and patience. They took part in the activity with great enthusiasm while continuing to uphold the principles of sportsmanship.Their decision to spend the holiday in this way was part of the young athletes' efforts to maintain their training spirit even during the holiday period. For the three karateka, Independence Day was not merely an opportunity to relax, but also a chance to engage in a meaningful activity while strengthening their sense of camaraderie.
The Independence Day celebrations had a special meaning for Ilyas, Ilyasa and Haikal. They used their free time for an activity that required concentration and accuracy. Raffling at Budayaland allowed them to enjoy the holiday while maintaining the competitive spirit they have developed through their karate training.
"We wanted to celebrate Independence not only by relaxing, but also through an activity that trains precision and patience while strengthening the bond among Alfarizi athletes," one of the three Alif brothers said. The sense of community they have built among themselves is also an important part of their development as athletes. Camaraderie among athletes can provide a foundation for a positive training environment in which they support one another and strengthen their fighting spirit ahead of various competitions.
The activity also demonstrates that sportsmanship does not have to be expressed exclusively through official competitions. Athletes can demonstrate the same spirit through various activities that develop physical and mental abilities, including recreational activities where concentration and sportsmanship remain important.
The coach of Dojo Alfarizi Karate welcomed the initiative taken by the three young karateka. In accordance with the principles taught at the dojo, the athletes' development focuses not only on competitive abilities but also on character building.
Discipline, community, sportsmanship and solidarity are among the values continuously instilled in the athletes. These principles are intended to produce karateka who are not only resilient on the competition floor but also demonstrate good character in everyday life.Independence Day gave the athletes an opportunity to put these values into practice outside their regular training sessions. By spending their free time on positive activities, the three young karateka also demonstrated how the younger generation can express the meaning of independence through various constructive pursuits.
Dojo Alfarizi Karate also continues to work toward producing successful young athletes from North Sumatra. The dojo is officially registered with Pengurus Besar INKANAS and continues to conduct training and development programs to further improve the abilities of its karateka.
Following the Independence Day holiday, which the athletes spent taking part in an activity that strengthened their camaraderie, members of Dojo Alfarizi have now returned their focus to upcoming competitions. The dojo's management and members are preparing for several championships that will give the karateka opportunities to demonstrate their abilities while pursuing sporting achievements.
Two competitions receiving particular attention are the Forki Championship for the Medan Mayor's Cup and the Karate Championship for the Batubara Regent's Cup. Dojo Alfarizi Karate plans to send its best athletes to compete in both events.Preparing for these competitions presents the karateka with their next challenge. In addition to technical skills, they require continuous training, mental strength, discipline and the ability to maintain concentration during competition. These qualities can also be further strengthened through various activities outside regular training sessions.
The participation of Ilyas Aif Saputra, Ilyasa Alif Saputra and Haikal Alif Saputra in the Independence Day activity is expected to serve as an example for other young people. They show that the meaning of independence can be expressed in simple ways while still carrying positive values.Independence is not only about remembering the struggle of the heroes who fought to secure the nation's freedom. The younger generation can keep that spirit alive through continued learning, training, creative work, community involvement and contributions to their surroundings.
For young athletes, this spirit can be expressed through sport and sporting achievements. With discipline and hard work, they can represent their region while making a positive contribution to the development of sport in North Sumatra. (IDNC)REPORTER: Edi Saputra | EDITOR: Fik Sagala
