MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM – Medan Mayor, Rico Waas, has officially expressed his strong support for the upcoming Milo Activ Indonesia Race (MAIR) 2026 – Medan Series, set to take place this weekend in Medan. The commitment was conveyed during a meeting with event organizers at Medan City Hall on Friday, May 8, 2026.
Rico Waas underlined that the city government continues to prioritize programs that encourage a healthy lifestyle among residents. He also praised the organizers for consistently delivering sports events that are both engaging and family-oriented.
He particularly highlighted the "Family Run" category, which allows parents and children to participate together, fostering stronger family connections through physical activity.

"This event is very positive because it involves families. We will continue to promote a healthy lifestyle. However, I encourage Milo to organize even larger-scale events in the future," Rico said, accompanied by local government officials from youth, sports, and environmental agencies.
Strengthening Medan as a Sports Tourism Destination
Rico also expressed his hope that MAIR would continue to grow beyond a national event and eventually attract international participants from countries such as Malaysia and Singapore.
He emphasized that Medan has strong readiness to host major sporting events, supported by solid infrastructure and high public enthusiasm.

7,000 Runners Set to Join MAIR 2026
According to Ekki Saputra, Public Affairs and Government Relations Lead of PT Nestlé Indonesia, interest in the event has been very high, with 7,000 runners registered.
The race will be held on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Lapangan Benteng, starting at 06.00 a.m.

Participants will compete in two categories: 5 kilometers with 6,400 runners, and the 2.5-kilometer Family Run featuring 900 participants consisting of parents and children.
"We are proud of the continued support from the Medan City Government. Medan is a priority city for us," Ekki said, adding that collaboration also extends to education, economic empowerment, and involvement of local SMEs.
Traffic Arrangements and Event Experience
Organizers confirmed that traffic management plans, including road closures and route diversions, have been coordinated with relevant authorities to ensure safety and smooth execution of the event.
