GUNUNGSITOLI | INDATANEWS.COM – North Sumatra Governor, Bobby Nasution, has expressed full support for the Indonesian Army's (TNI AD) large-scale Karya Bakti program in North Sumatra, particularly across the Nias Islands. The initiative aims to accelerate infrastructure development while improving public welfare in the region.
Bobby Nasution conveyed his support during the official opening ceremony held at Pelita Square in Gunungsitoli on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. He symbolically marked the launch of the program across the Nias region by striking a gong.

Bobby Nasution emphasized the urgent need to speed up infrastructure development in the Nias Islands. According to him, improving basic infrastructure is essential to driving economic growth and enhancing the quality of life for local communities.
"The Nias Islands must quickly move out of the underdeveloped category. Infrastructure is the key to creating prosperity for the people," Bobby said after the ceremony.

The TNI AD Karya Bakti Skala Besar program is part of a national initiative to support underdeveloped regions in Indonesia. It follows directives from President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto and focuses on delivering concrete infrastructure projects.
Planned developments include bridge construction, installation of deep wells, and other essential infrastructure aimed at directly addressing community needs.

Commander of the I/Bukit Barisan Military Command, Maj. Gen. TNI Hendy Antariksa, stated that the program has received broad support from the central government, the North Sumatra Provincial Government, and local administrations across the Nias Islands.
"In addition to support from the central government, we also receive full backing from the Governor of North Sumatra as well as regencies and cities across the Nias Islands," Hendy said. (IDNC)
