TAPANULI TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM ~ North Sumatra Governor, Bobby Nasution, has called for the immediate acceleration of embankment and sabo dam construction along the Tukka River in Tukka District, Tapanuli Tengah Regency. The move aims to mitigate the risk of recurring floods that threaten nearby residential areas.
The governor delivered the directive during an on-site inspection on Monday, April 13, 2026, in Hutanabolon Village, where he assessed the progress of the ongoing infrastructure project.
During the visit, Bobby held discussions with officials from Indonesia's Ministry of Public Works, the North Sumatra Regional Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency, and Central Tapanuli Regent Masinton Pasaribu. The meeting focused on resolving key challenges hampering the project.

"We are concerned that residents will suffer if this project is not completed promptly. Therefore, I stress the importance of collaboration. All pending work must be finalized as soon as possible. Regarding land issues, the provincial government has coordinated with the National Land Agency," Bobby stated.
Collaboration and Acceleration Become Priorities

Despite heavy rainfall during the inspection, Bobby emphasized the urgency of strong coordination among all stakeholders to expedite post-disaster recovery efforts. He urged active participation rather than passive observation.
"I expect visible progress within a week. We have visited this site multiple times to ensure the well-being of residents. Reconstruction efforts are ongoing with support from all parties, including the military and private sector," he added.
Rising Water Levels Increase Flood Threat
Continuous heavy rainfall during the visit caused water levels in the river to rise rapidly, a situation Bobby observed directly from the temporary embankment. He described the condition as highly alarming.

The Tukka District has already experienced three flash floods—in November 2025, January 2026, and February 2026, just before Ramadan.
"There should be no more excuses, as funding is already available. All stakeholders, including the local administration, must contribute to ensuring the project is completed swiftly. The provincial government cannot handle this alone. Further flooding could damage the embankment and reset progress to zero," Bobby warned.
Local Government Commits Full Support
Tapanuli Tengah Regent, Masinton Pasaribu, reaffirmed his administration's readiness to fully support both central and provincial government initiatives.
