INTENSIVE FIRE PREVENTION: Aceh Tengah Police officers conduct patrols and outreach activities to prevent forest and land fires during the dry season.

ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The Aceh Tengah Police, under the Aceh Regional Police (Polda Aceh), have significantly intensified patrols and public awareness efforts to prevent forest and land fires in the region. The measures come amid rising fire risks during the ongoing dry season.

Strengthened Patrols Amid Rising Dry Season Risk

Police Chief of Aceh Tengah, AKBP Muhamad Taufiq, stated that all police units—from the district command to sector and sub-sector levels—are actively conducting routine preventive operations. The initiative aims to detect and mitigate potential fire hazards at an early stage.

Public Awareness Campaign Targets Farmers and Plantation Owners

As part of its preventive strategy, the police are focusing on educating farmers and plantation owners. They are urged to stop using slash-and-burn methods for land clearing and instead adopt safer and more environmentally friendly practices.

Authorities also reminded the public of strict legal consequences for arson, referencing Law No. 41 of 1999 on Forestry, Law No. 18 of 2004 on Plantations, and Law No. 32 of 2009 on Environmental Protection and Management.

AKBP Muhamad Taufiq emphasized that preventing forest and land fires cannot be achieved by law enforcement alone. Public participation is a crucial factor in reducing fire risks effectively and sustainably.
