Police Chief of Aceh Tengah, AKBP Muhamad Taufiq, stated that all police units—from the district command to sector and sub-sector levels—are actively conducting routine preventive operations. The initiative aims to detect and mitigate potential fire hazards at an early stage.

Read Also:As part of its preventive strategy, the police are focusing on educating farmers and plantation owners. They are urged to stop using slash-and-burn methods for land clearing and instead adopt safer and more environmentally friendly practices.
Authorities also reminded the public of strict legal consequences for arson, referencing Law No. 41 of 1999 on Forestry, Law No. 18 of 2004 on Plantations, and Law No. 32 of 2009 on Environmental Protection and Management.

AKBP Muhamad Taufiq emphasized that preventing forest and land fires cannot be achieved by law enforcement alone. Public participation is a crucial factor in reducing fire risks effectively and sustainably.
"Through continuous patrols and outreach efforts, we hope to raise public awareness so that fires can be prevented early," he added.He also stressed that cooperation between the police and the community is essential to protecting the environment and avoiding haze disasters in Aceh Tengah. (IDNC)
