SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT FOR ASN ON FIRST SCHOOL DAY: ASN employees of the Aceh Government receive flexible working hours on Monday, July 13, 2026, to accompany their children from preschool to senior high school on their first day of the new academic year.

BANDA ACEH | INDATANEWS.COM - The Aceh Provincial Government has granted flexible working arrangements for State Civil Apparatus (Aparatur Sipil Negara/ASN) employees who have children enrolled in early childhood education (PAUD), primary schools, or secondary schools, allowing them to accompany their children on the first day of the new academic year on Monday, July 13, 2026.

The policy reflects the Aceh Government's commitment to supporting family resilience while implementing the recommendation of the Minister for Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB), which calls on government institutions to provide opportunities for ASN employees to accompany their children during this important milestone at the beginning of the school year.

The flexible working arrangement was stipulated in a letter issued by the Secretary of the Aceh Provincial Administration, Number 000.8.6.1/8123 dated July 10, 2026, concerning work-hour flexibility. The letter was signed by Aceh Provincial Secretary M. Nasir on behalf of the Governor of Aceh.

The letter was addressed to the assistants of the Aceh Provincial Secretary, advisers to the Governor of Aceh, heads of Aceh Provincial Government Work Units (SKPA), and heads of offices within the Aceh Provincial Secretariat.

ASN Must Still Record Electronic Attendance

Under the policy, ASN employees with children attending early childhood education, primary education, or secondary education institutions are allowed to adjust their working hours on Monday, July 13, 2026, so they can accompany their children on their first day of school.

Despite the flexibility provided, administrative obligations remain in place. ASN employees are still required to record their electronic attendance from the location of the school where their children are enrolled.

Meanwhile, ASN employees who do not need to accompany their children to school are required to continue working as usual and record their electronic attendance at their respective offices.

The Aceh Government has also suspended the implementation of the Monday morning roll call on July 13, 2026, to support the implementation of this policy. This allows ASN employees accompanying their children to continue fulfilling their professional duties while also carrying out their responsibilities as parents.

Agency Leaders Must Ensure Public Services Continue

Aceh Provincial Secretary Muhammad Nasir instructed all heads of regional agencies to communicate the flexible working arrangement to all ASN employees within their respective institutions.

Muhammad Nasir also reminded every government agency to ensure that government duties and public services for the community continue to operate properly during the implementation of the policy.

"This measure is an implementation of the letter from the Minister of PANRB Number B/257/M.KT.02/2026 concerning support for strengthening family resilience for ASN employees. The regulation encourages government institutions to provide opportunities for parents, especially mothers and fathers, to accompany their children on the first day of school without reducing the quality of public services," the regulation stated.

The Aceh Government emphasized that granting flexible working hours does not reduce ASN commitment in carrying out public service responsibilities. Every regional agency remains responsible for maintaining effective governance throughout the implementation of the policy.

Supporting Parental Roles to Strengthen Families

The flexible working arrangement for ASN is in line with government efforts to strengthen the role of families, particularly in supporting children's educational progress and psychological development.

The first day of school is considered an important moment for children, especially students entering a new level of education. The presence of parents can provide emotional support and help build children's confidence as they adapt to a new school environment.

Through this policy, the government provides ASN employees with an opportunity to fulfill their family responsibilities while maintaining their professionalism as public servants.

The letter issued by the Secretary of the Aceh Provincial Administration Number 000.8.6.1/8123 also emphasized that the implementation of flexible working hours must be carried out proportionally while taking into account the needs of public services.

Through this arrangement, the Aceh Government hopes ASN employees can take advantage of the opportunity to accompany their children on the first school day while continuing to maintain discipline and professional responsibility.

The policy is part of the implementation of the Minister of PANRB's guidelines to encourage a balance between family life and professional duties for ASN employees within the government environment. (IDNC)
