LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM – A strong Islamic atmosphere and deep love for the Holy Quran filled Perkebunan Teluk Panji Sidodadi Village in Kampung Rakyat District as South Labuhanbatu Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang, accompanied by Vice Regent Syahdian Purba, officially closed the 17th Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) and Festival Seni Qasidah (FSQ) at the regency level on Saturday night, May 23, 2026.
Thousands of residents from various districts gathered at the football field of Perkebunan Teluk Panji Village to witness the grand closing ceremony, which was marked by religious spirit, unity, and appreciation for the younger generation of Quran lovers.
Among those attending the event were Regional Secretary Reza Fahlevi Nasution, Deputy Chairwoman of the Regional Legislative Council Irmayanti, council members H. Sutiman and Zuham, representatives from the police, religious leaders, youth organizations, and other invited guests.

The event began with a prayer led by South Labuhanbatu MUI Chairman Makmur Ismail Harahap, followed by a touching Quran recitation by Ramadhan Sahputra that created a solemn and spiritual atmosphere.
MTQ and FSQ Strengthen Youth Character
Kampung Rakyat District Head Ali Brahamsar Nasution expressed appreciation for the hard work of the organizing committee and the support from local residents that contributed to the success of the 17th MTQ and FSQ.
He emphasized that the MTQ and FSQ were not merely competitions, but also important platforms to encourage young people to deepen their connection with the Holy Quran and Islamic arts.

Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang stated that MTQ and FSQ play a strategic role in building a religious and morally strong society.
"MTQ and FSQ are not merely ceremonial events or competitions. They are platforms to nurture a Quran-loving generation with noble character and to strengthen Islamic brotherhood in South Labuhanbatu," he said.
His remarks were warmly welcomed with applause from the audience, reflecting strong public support for religious activities as an important foundation for moral development in modern society.
An emotional moment also took place when the Regent awarded Umrah trips to five outstanding participants in recognition of their achievements during the 17th MTQ and FSQ.

The ceremonial lowering of the MTQ and LASQI flags by the Paskibraka team from SMA Negeri Kampung Rakyat officially marked the successful conclusion of the event.
During the ceremony, Regent Fery Sahputra Simatupang handed over the MTQ and FSQ flags to the Head of Torgamba District, officially appointing Torgamba as the host of the 18th MTQ and FSQ at the regency level next year.
The appointment is expected to encourage more professional and larger-scale preparations for the upcoming event, while also producing talented Qori and Qoriah capable of representing South Labuhanbatu at provincial and national levels. (IDNC)
