Kampung Rakyat Police Arrest Suspected Burglary Suspect in Labuhanbatu Selatan

LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Kampung Rakyat Police (Polsek Kampung Rakyat), under the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police (Polres Labuhanbatu Selatan), arrested a suspected burglary suspect on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, as part of Operation Sikat Toba 2026. The arrest followed a report from residents concerning a theft in the jurisdiction of the Kampung Rakyat Police.

The police team arrested RAL, also known as FOSO, 20, a resident of Pondok Batu Village, Bilah Hulu District, Labuhanbatu Regency. Officers apprehended him at around 1:30 p.m. local time in Suka Mulia Village, Bilah Hulu District.

During the arrest, officers seized seven mobile phones of various brands and two three-kilogram LPG cylinders. Police said the items could be linked to a series of theft cases that are still under investigation.

Police Follow Up on Victim's Report

The investigation began after Anes Selsa Monica, 23, a resident of Perkebunan Tolan Village, filed a report. She told police that a mobile phone and a three-kilogram LPG cylinder had been stolen from her home in the early hours of Friday, September 18, 2026.

Kampung Rakyat Police Chief AKP Muhammad Ilham Lubis, S.H., then instructed the Criminal Investigation Unit to investigate the case, identify the suspect and trace the whereabouts of the stolen property.

The investigation team, led by IPDA Apma Aldon Pulungan, S.H., M.H., head of the Kampung Rakyat Police Criminal Investigation Unit, carried out a series of investigative measures. Officers subsequently obtained information indicating that the suspected perpetrator was staying in Suka Mulia Village, Bilah Hulu District.

The officers went to the location and arrested RAL, also known as FOSO, without resistance. He was then taken to the Kampung Rakyat Police station for further questioning.

Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Chief AKBP Rosef Efendi, S.I.K., M.H., CPHR., through Kampung Rakyat Police Chief AKP Muhammad Ilham Lubis, said the arrest represented an immediate response to a citizen's report and the police's efforts to address public concerns.

"We will not give criminals who disturb the community, particularly within the jurisdiction of the Kampung Rakyat Police, any room to operate. The resolution of this case demonstrates our determination to respond to public reports and fully support Operation Sikat Toba 2026," AKP Muhammad Ilham Lubis said at the Kampung Rakyat Police station on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

The statement highlights the important role of public reports in helping police investigate criminal cases. Information provided by victims serves as a basis for investigators to conduct further inquiries and develop new leads in individual cases.

Suspect Names Alleged Accomplice

During his initial questioning, RAL, also known as FOSO, reportedly admitted that he had carried out the thefts with an accomplice identified by the initials JN, also known as JOS. Police subsequently placed JN alias JOS on the wanted-person list, known as DPO in Indonesia.

According to police, the two men allegedly targeted several locations around Pekan Tolan and surrounding areas. Based on the suspect's statement, at least six locations have been linked to the alleged series of thefts.

The alleged crime scenes included rice shops, a tire repair workshop, residential properties and vehicles parked along Jalan Lintas Sumatera (Jalinsum).

Police are continuing to examine RAL alias FOSO's statements to establish the full extent of the alleged theft series. Investigators are also checking whether other locations may have been targeted.

In addition, officers are examining the seven mobile phones and two three-kilogram LPG cylinders seized during the arrest. Investigators will compare the seized items with loss reports previously filed with the Kampung Rakyat Police.

Further investigations will also focus on determining JN alias JOS's role and whether other individuals may have been involved in the alleged series of thefts.

Police Continue Search for Alleged Accomplice

The arrest of RAL alias FOSO is part of Operation Sikat Toba 2026, a police operation aimed at curbing theft and other criminal activities that could disrupt public security.

Following the arrest, investigators are now focusing on locating JN alias JOS. Police placed the alleged accomplice on the wanted-person list after his name emerged during the suspect's initial questioning.

Police are also continuing to examine information concerning several locations allegedly targeted in the thefts. The investigation is intended to determine whether the individual incidents are connected, while also establishing the total value of the losses and the number of victims involved.

For residents within the jurisdiction of the Kampung Rakyat Police, the investigation forms part of the police response to reports of thefts involving homes, shops and parked vehicles.

RAL alias FOSO remains in police custody for further legal proceedings at the Kampung Rakyat Police station. Investigators are applying Article 477 Paragraph 1 letters e and g of Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP).

Meanwhile, police continue to search for JN alias JOS. Investigators are working to determine the whereabouts of the wanted individual while continuing efforts to uncover the full extent of the alleged series of theft offenses.

The Kampung Rakyat Police also urged residents to strengthen security around their homes, businesses and vehicles. Members of the public are encouraged to immediately report thefts or suspicious activities to the police so officers can take appropriate action and conduct further investigations. (IDNC)
