Deli Serdang Gears Up to Defend National Pesparawi Title

CHURCH CHOIR FESTIVAL: The Deli Serdang Regency government is confident it can maintain its achievements at the national Church Choir Festival (Pesparawi) in Manokwari, West Papua.

DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM ~ As the 14th National Pesparawi Festival approaches in Manokwari, West Papua, scheduled from June 23 to 28, 2026, Deli Serdang is confident it can maintain its winning streak in the national church choir competition. This optimism stems from ongoing regional training and support programs.

Confidence Through Proven Development Programs

Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan expressed his optimism during a meeting with organizers and participants of Deli Serdang's Pesparawi team on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Regency Office.

He emphasized that past national achievements provide a strong foundation for future growth, reinforced by systematic regional training.


"When national success has been achieved, it must be sustained. Regional Pesparawi events should be held regularly, and the training system strengthened from the grassroots level," said Asri Ludin.

Asri Ludin highlighted the importance of consistency and long-term planning, supported by dedicated budget allocations, to ensure ongoing success.

"When this becomes a tradition and delivers results, it should be continuously improved. Training must be sustainable and integrated into annual plans," he explained.

He also stressed that participation in Pesparawi is more than a competition—it fosters character development, strengthens spiritual values, and promotes religious art and culture in society.

Moreover, he encouraged the development of similar religious events for followers of other faiths to enhance cultural values and religious harmony in Deli Serdang.


"I hope the delegation will perform at its best and defend the achievements already earned," he added.

Deli Serdang's Pesparawi delegation has excelled particularly in the Women's Choir (PSW) category, bringing the overall victory to North Sumatra in the 2022 national competition in Yogyakarta. This year, Deli Serdang will compete in two categories: PSW and Mixed Adult Choir (PSDC), which previously won at the provincial level in 2024.

Janji Hadameon Sinambela, chairman of Deli Serdang's Regional Pesparawi Development Organization (LPPD), stated that preparations are being intensified to defend and expand their national successes.

"We at LPPD Deli Serdang are committed to upholding our district's reputation, as proven at the 13th national competition. Thanks to everyone for their support. This year, we aim for even better results in two national categories," he said. (IDNC)
