DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The government of Deli Serdang Regency is preparing approximately 502 hectares of land in Kecamatan Sinembah Tanjung Muda (STM) Hulu under the TORA program (Agrarian Reform Object Land). The area will be primarily used for horticulture, with a focus on red onion cultivation, a key commodity influencing local food prices.

During a dialogue with farmers from the Arih Ersada Liang Pematang Farmers Association on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in Dusun I, Desa Liang Pematang, Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan stated:

"This land is designated for horticulture. Onions are an essential commodity that affects food prices for our community. Don't worry about selling your harvest – we will even help collect it directly."

To boost production, the Deli Serdang government will provide farmers with agricultural machinery and equipment (Alsintan) that can be borrowed for free through the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT).

"Use the equipment without rental costs. You only pay for fuel. We will cover any damages," explained Asri Ludin.

High-quality onion seeds will also be distributed. Each farmers' association must prepare a planting schedule to facilitate logistics during the harvest.

"I want the planting data so I know when vehicles should be sent. We will even collect the harvest at a price above production cost," he added.
