DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The Deli Serdang Regency government took decisive action on Thursday, February 26, 2026, targeting a telecommunications tower owned by PT Tower Bersama Group on Setia Budi Road, Sekip Village, Lubuk Pakam District, North Sumatra. The tower was found operating without the mandatory Persetujuan Bangunan Gedung (PBG) — a building permit now required under Indonesian law.

Read Also:According to Mayor Tambunan, the tower has stood since 1997 with an original permit from the public works authority. However, reforms to Indonesia's national building regulations now require all structures — including telecom towers — to secure a valid PBG.
"Previously, a permit existed. But following legal reforms in the Republic of Indonesia, all towers must now obtain a PBG. Existing installations must comply and acquire the required authorization under current regulations," Mayor Tambunan emphasized.

Over the past six months, the regency government received multiple complaints from local residents reporting potential damage to their homes caused by falling materials from the tower. Authorities invited the operator for discussions, but the regency said no satisfactory resolution was reached.
"The owner did not address the matter appropriately. The safety and interests of the public are our priority. We waited for a collaborative solution, but none was implemented. Therefore, we had to intervene," Deputy Regent Suwondo stated.The government also warned that stricter enforcement would continue against any towers failing to meet legal requirements in Deli Serdang.
On-site, Agus Suprianto, head of the Data and Development Division of Satpol PP Deli Serdang, read the official demolition record. The tower lacked both a valid building permit and a PBG from the regency government.
The enforcement is grounded in Regional Regulation No. 1/2025, amending Regulation No. 7/2015 on public order and safety, which explicitly prohibits construction without government authorization. Violations may result in administrative sanctions, including demolition.The Deli Serdang government reaffirmed its commitment to uphold the law, ensuring a safe, orderly, and legally compliant environment for residents.
