POLICE CONDUCT STREET PATROL TO PREVENT CRIME: The Sekupang Police carried out Cipkon and KRYD operations on Saturday night, May 23, 2026, patrolling several crime-prone areas to suppress street crime and illegal street racing in Batam.

BATAM | INDATANEWS.COM The Sekupang Police Station conducted a large-scale security operation on Saturday evening, May 23, 2026, as part of the "Cipta Kondisi" (Cipkon) initiative and intensified routine patrols (KRYD). The operation aimed to maintain public order and security while suppressing street crime, including robbery, theft, vehicle theft, illegal street racing, and the use of loud modified "brong" exhaust systems.

The enforcement action was launched in response to public complaints and viral social media content showing illegal racing activities and disturbing vehicle noise. In response, police increased patrol intensity and carried out targeted inspections at several known hotspots.

The operation was directly led by the Head of Sekupang Police Station, Commissioner Hippal Tua Sirait, with a total of 21 officers deployed. A pre-operation briefing was held at the police station to ensure readiness and coordination among personnel.

Police officers patrolled several high-risk areas identified as frequent locations for public disturbances, including Taman Wijaya Sei Harapan, the Shangrilla area, Bifza Minisoccer field, HBC shop-house complex, Tiban Koperasi, Tiban Petra Mandiri, the Tanah Merah–RSBP Batam route, Patam Lestari, and Jalan Sei Temiang.

During the patrols, officers adopted a dialog-based approach, engaging with residents and urging the public to immediately report any suspicious activities to authorities.

Alongside preventive measures, officers also conducted vehicle inspections targeting illegal modifications and street racing activity. Motorcycles fitted with unauthorized "brong" exhaust systems and individuals suspected of participating in street racing were issued warnings and sanctions.

A total of 22 motorcycles were confiscated and taken to the police station for further processing.

Commissioner Hippal Tua Sirait emphasized that the Cipkon and KRYD operations are preventive measures designed to strengthen public security and prevent potential disturbances.

"Our presence in the field is intended to ensure safety, prevent crime, and maintain a stable security situation," he stated.
