ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM - The Aceh Tengah Police continue to strengthen their commitment to ensuring road safety, order, and smooth traffic flow (Kamseltibcarlantas) through a humanitarian approach in law enforcement. The Traffic Unit (Satlantas) of the Aceh Tengah Police carried out another humanitarian patrol operation from Friday evening into the early hours of Saturday. The operation focused not only on traffic monitoring but also on checking motorcycles equipped with non-standard exhaust systems, commonly known as "brong" exhausts.
The patrol was conducted from 8:40 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. local time (WIB), covering several strategic locations identified as active public spaces with potential traffic disturbances. These areas included Lebe Kader Street, Sengeda Street, the old Takengon bus terminal area, the Pasar Inpres district, and the vicinity of the fuel station on Lintang Street.A total of eight personnel from the Aceh Tengah Traffic Unit, supported by an Isuzu D-Max patrol vehicle, were deployed to conduct mobile monitoring across the city, particularly during nighttime hours, to maintain a safe and controlled traffic environment.
The operation was not limited to surveillance but also aimed at preventing potential public safety disturbances on the road. Officers actively monitored possible illegal street racing, traffic congestion, and heightened accident risks during nighttime hours.
Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Muhamad Taufiq, S.I.K., M.H., through Traffic Unit Head AKP Rerit Oktafiandi, S.Tr.K., S.I.K., CPHR., emphasized that the humanitarian patrol represents a tangible form of police presence within the community. During the patrol, officers also engaged directly with road users. They provided education on the importance of disciplined driving behavior, road safety awareness, and the negative impact of "brong" exhaust systems, which generate excessive noise and disturb public peace.
Authorities urged the public to foster a culture of traffic safety rooted in individual responsibility and compliance with regulations.
The communicative and preventive strategy is designed to strengthen trust between the police and the public while increasing awareness of traffic laws and regulations. This initiative is expected to contribute in the long term to a safer, quieter, and more orderly traffic environment in Aceh Tengah.
During the patrol, officers identified 11 motorcycles equipped with non-standard "brong" exhaust systems. Instead of issuing citations, police opted for an educational enforcement approach.
Vehicle owners were required to replace their modified exhausts with standard components at the Aceh Tengah Police Headquarters (Mako). This measure is intended to provide both education and long-term awareness of regulatory compliance.
The presence of police across strategic locations was positively received by residents. Community members considered the routine humanitarian patrols effective in improving public safety, particularly during nighttime hours.
Residents also expressed hope that such operations would continue regularly, as they are seen as effective in reducing traffic violations and noise disturbances caused by "brong" exhausts.Road safety is a shared responsibility among all road users.
