A press conference was held at the lobby of the Barelang Police Headquarters, led by Police Chief Kombes Pol Anggoro Wicaksono, accompanied by Satreskrim Head Kompol M. Debby Tri Andrestian, Public Relations Officer AKP Budi Santosa, Unit VI Head Eko Kurniawan, and Sub-Unit XI Chief Hudan Mega Bani Deha.The briefing was conducted as part of the police's commitment to transparency in law enforcement and the strengthening of child protection efforts, on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

Satreskrim Head Kompol M. Debby Tri Andrestian stated that the case was initiated from a report submitted by a member of the public, based on information involving a 16-year-old individual.
The report led investigators to a hotel in the Lubuk Baja District, Batam City, where the alleged incident took place.Authorities are currently examining indications of possible child exploitation involving multiple parties, including a foreign national and a juvenile.
