JAMBI | INDATANEWS.COM – The "Macan Reskrim" special unit of the Kota Baru Police Precinct (Polresta Jambi) has swiftly apprehended two suspects linked to a brutal murder in the Pinang Merah area, Jambi City. The victim, Indra Kusuma, died after suffering 18 stab wounds, while his son, M. Ferdi, survived despite sustaining five injuries.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening, April 26, 2026, on Jalan Kurnia RT 10, Pinang Merah, Alam Barajo District, Jambi City. Within 24 hours, on Monday, April 27, 2026, police arrested two suspects identified by their initials RG and BH.

Jambi Police Chief Kombes Pol. Boy Sutan Binanga Siregar, through Kota Baru Police Chief Kompol Helrawati Siregar, said the arrests followed intensive investigations.
"The incident began with a dispute between the children of both parties, which was later reported to their respective parents," Helrawati Siregar said during a press conference.

The suspects, unable to accept the situation, went to the victim's house. The confrontation escalated into a deadly knife attack that killed Indra Kusuma. His son was also attacked but survived his injuries.
Police Probe Possible Additional Suspects
In addition to detaining the two main suspects, police are questioning several witnesses to determine whether others were involved.
"Besides the two suspects we have arrested and interrogated, we are also examining witnesses, as the involvement of additional individuals cannot be ruled out," Kompol Helrawati Siregar said.

Preliminary findings suggest that minors and a woman may have been involved in the incident. However, they are currently considered witnesses and are subject to reporting obligations due to their status.

Severe Penalties Await Perpetrators
Police continue to develop the case and gather further evidence, leaving open the possibility of naming additional suspects.
"We are continuing to develop the case and collect new evidence. It is possible that more individuals will be named as suspects," she added.
Kompol Helrawati also urged the public to maintain social harmony and avoid escalating conflicts.
"We call on the public to preserve harmony among neighbors and not be driven by emotions that could harm themselves and others. The two suspects face life imprisonment, or at least 20 years in prison," she stated. (IDNC)
