The victim, a 25-year-old man identified by the initials RS, realized his motorcycle had gone missing after parking it outside his rented room.
The vehicle was parked on Monday, April 6, 2026, at around 6:20 p.m. and was properly secured with a steering lock. However, by Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at around 11:30 a.m., the motorcycle was no longer there. The victim immediately reported the incident to Sekupang Police Station.
Investigation Leads to Muka Kuning Area
Following the report, investigators launched an immediate inquiry. The trail led officers to a housing complex in the Muka Kuning flats area, where the suspect was believed to be hiding.Under the leadership of Second Inspector Riyanto, the operational team successfully arrested a 26-year-old man identified by the initials RL without resistance.
Suspect Confesses to Additional CrimesDuring initial questioning, the suspect admitted to stealing the motorcycle. He also confessed to using the stolen vehicle in another theft involving a mobile phone in the Batam Kota area.
Police secured the motorcycle and its registration document (STNK) as evidence and transported the suspect to Sekupang Police Station for further investigation.The suspect is charged under Article 477 paragraph (1) letter f of Indonesia's Criminal Code (KUHP) under Law No. 1 of 2023, and faces a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.
